Hatman said: NAACP performance with that first ever snippet of Satisfied, We're a Winner, Never Loved a Man the way I love you, and the massive Shiela E jam at the end. The smoothest, most amazing arrangement of a medley I've ever seen, and what great choices of covers! No obvious "Play that funky Music" here!

1. Super Bowl - IMO, the best TV appearance of his career. The music, the atmosphere, the crowd, the rain - all these elements came together to make a magical moment. It was exciting to watch this live and know that millions of other people around the world were witnessing it, too.
2. "Fury" on SNL - Being only a very casual fan at the time, this performance is really what made me sit up and take notice of Prince. It also inspired me to get into rock/guitar, which I couldn't have cared less about previously. 3. "Dreamer" on The Tonight Show - Inspired performance of one of my favorite songs, with a fantastic guitar solo. 4. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at RRHOF - He's such a freakin' egotistical show-off, but I love it. 5. "The Everlasting Now" on The Tonight Show - I love this song and this is my favorite performance of it. Another great guitar solo. 6. "The Word" and "Get On The Boat" at The ALMA Awards - He took songs I didn't care for on record and made me love them with the more latin-flavored arrangements. This was also my introduction to one of my favorite groups, Grupo Fantasma. | |
