One unreleased live recording that should have been in the official Prince top-5

Out of all the unreleased unofficial live bootlegs from the man, which one would have been considered a true classic by critics and the public and earned a sure spot in the top-5 of all Prince albums?

This might not be an obscure release or an unexpected choice, but I'd defintely pick "Lovesexy Live In Dortmund 1988", an impressively varied performance and a spectacular live show during an peak period of Prince's career.

You get the guitar playing, amazing vocal performance, the piano medley, dancing, full energy showcasing the entire spectra of Prince's musical genres - rock, funk, the ballads, the pop hits...

I'm sure this would have been praised as a masterpiece live album and a live DVD and been up there in most fans & music lovers top-5 for Best official Prince albums released.

What do you think? What would be your pick?

Any particular Lovesexy show, but an earlier one. He cut out "Erotic City" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover" later on in the shows.

there's a lot of emphasis on the mid-80s live stuff but there was some really good mid-90s live stuff too.

I think it was 2000 or so. It was a big concert at some arena in Mpls, and he invited Fink, Brownmark, and Z up on stage for "America". I think Q-Tip was in the show as well, and someone else. I think the bootleg is like 3 CDs. I used to have it, but no more. W&L didn't show up for some reason that I forget. It's an audience recording, but it's the complete show.

Haven't seen this one, Ernest. How was it? Did it seem like "old times" for that one number?

It didn't really sound like the "America" we knew, but they did perform it. Prince invited them on stage one at a time, and talked about how "shapely" (or something close) they were, meaning they'd all put on weight. Fink said he wore his scrubs for it. The band was already playing when the 3 Revolutionites jumped in and took over. It was the only song they played on. It was fun that they were together, but without W&L, it seemed to come up short. It's a bit of a broken reunion with that, and then with W&L later on the Brit Awards (which I felt was a better "reunion" than the Celebration one).

it's either labeled 2000 or 2001 Celebration. I think it's 2001. The set also has unreal versions of Kiss and Days of Wild. When I first got ahold of it, I probably listened to it for a month straight. It's B+ sound quality, but the NPG funk is way hot on those 3 Cd's

Yeah, I've lost my CDs over the years, so I could do for a copy at some point. I'll have to dig around for one.
