Prince 1st live album

I love the ONA alone tour, but I'm dissapointed in the cd. As Prince's 1st live set to the public, don't u think Rave 2002 would have been a better choice. The dvd of the concert is incredible and I'm sure a cd compilation would impress the masses. You agree?

TRON

No, I think that Rave works as a video and ONA is much better as a live album.

I understand you say that because you're thinking about hits and stupid things like that. But you've got to understand Prince is already somewhere else and One nite alone live shows better than any other tour where he wanna go now. Close your eyes and forget about the past. This is his new artistic direction and this one is not about fame, hits or vanity. It's about music. That's all.

i think ONA ... the only reason PPL aka FAMS r dissapointed is Because the live concert in person .. is much more entertaining... cause U R watching him do his thing... thats true of any live album ... live at the concert is always better

A lot of people around here sure do seem to be concerned with what's going to "please the masses". I think worrying about that is a waste of energy. Prince himself tried to "please the masses" with Rave (the CD) & it got him nowhere.
Prince just needs to do what he feels. Sometimes we get good stuff & sometimes we don't. Sometimes the masses will take notice & sometimes they won't.

i think that "ONA live" is a terrific live album, and it accomplishes what prince wanted to do... to document his latest tour and to show people that he has moved on and made music since 1985...

that said, i don't think a "greatest hits live" type of cd would be a bad idea... i just don't think the rave 2000 would be the right choice... too many of the songs are truncated to the first verse, chorus, and then a guitar solo... alright, time for the next song... and some of the songs that do jam for a while, don't seem to go anywhere... there are some killer jams on it, andit is good as a dvd, but i think it might get boring to listen to after awhile... and i sure don't think it would be replacing "ONA live" any time soon...

Seeing him live and in person is the absolute best experience, but ONA live is great too. I have read some posts that indicate some people are disappointed, but I for one am not disappointed. I got exactly what I wanted in ONA live. I did not want a greatest hits package and I certainly didn't want anything that would attract the masses. As I've stated before, ONA is for us (his true fans) not the masses. Don't y'all just love Anna Stesia and Adore. Both are just beautiful.
