I was truly shocked that LoveSign wasn't a hit. I always found it to be an inspired pop track. And, I'll always have fond memories of watching the video in the tiny, pillow-filled media room atop the NPG store in MPLS.
Hot Wit U is one of the better songs on 'Rave', but that's like judging the tallest mountain in Kansas...or, a beauty contest between Jimmy Page and Keith Richards. Occupy Alphabet Street!

Both are no highlights in his career, but I take Love Sign over Hot with U anyday, its actually one of his few songs with a modern R&B sound i LIKE (i hate most of them), because its a clever, well written pop-melody in 'disguise'.
Hot with U ranks among the WORST Prince songs ever IMO. Poorly composed and executed music, and downright laughable and annoying lyrics. The kind of lyrics that might have worked for him in 1980 - 1981, but at his age in '99, that stage of his career and within this song arrangement it is simply crap. | |
