PRINCE'S BEST LIVE TOUR???

Were you there way back when to witness Prince's various tours?

Which one do you think is the very best, or have they all been eclipsed by One Night Alone.

Let's have your memories and views?

For me, best tour, PARADE!

Didn't witness it myself, but I would say the 'The Gold Experience' tour. Because of all the new songs that were played, a very energetic show, a hardrocking Prince, and some great aftershows. The Brussel aftershow is just Prince at his best.

(How do I know this, since I wasn't there? Yes, I'm from Holland)

Can't say; started from 1986.

And from the shows I have seen since then SOTT, TGE and ONA stand out...

Tivoli in Utrecht was rather fun, during the NPS tour, but somewhat less exciting than The Bataclan last year; which was probably the most FUN concert I was at.

The most SPARKLING.
With the most GUITAR playing.
And an awfully GOOD crowd.

And my buddy Bram enjoying it so much it was a double blast. Seeing someone's jaw drop to the ground is one thing, but seeing someone be SO awed was great. And he saw lotsa shows this tour.

the only "concert" i've actually attended wuz the 1st xcel energy concert in 2000...other than that i've been 2 paisley parties (can't call them "concerts" by any means).

i'm still fairly new in all this (only been a freek 4 eight years), so no concerts 4 me, really. that, and i'm only 22. i've missed all the good stuff.

22 and attended 1 concert? That's not that bad!
I'm 20 and attended 5 concerts, including one aftershow! But that's just lucky me.

Be happy that you've discovered Prince music at such an early age of 14. Most people I know didn't appreciate Prince until their 20's.

I've seen all the European tours (except 1981) and they all have their own identity. Therefor it's not that easy to say what Prince's best tour was...

The best show I have seen were
1. SOTT
2. Gold Exp.
3. ONA

But, the best tour has to be the US leg Hit'n'Run 1986 tour. I REALLY like the San Fransisco 86 show!!!

Peace,

From the tours I missed I would most like to have seen "Lovesexy". The live-Video ist Amazing.

From the tours I´ve seen probably "Diamonds And Pearls" or "ONA". But the Cologne-aftershow in 1998 was also very special.
See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

From what I've heard and seen, the D&P tour seems boring to me. Not one show, but the overall tour. Not?

Do you remember the setlist from the Brussels aftershow? I am a huge fan of the TGE-era music and performances. (edit: nevermind...just found it, thanks for the heads up)

I was there and it was really exciting in most parts. One great moment was when Prince renacted the Gett Off video on stage with Diamond and Pearl. The production was of really high quality what with the video screens, the moving symbol lighting rig and the flying bed. Much better than the Nude Tour IMHO. However I don't think the set list changed that much and I think it was more of a spectacle than a great musical treat, so I can see your point.

1) Lovesexy - The feeling after you left each show was like coming down off a high!

2) ONA - The best mood I've ever seen Prince in, and it showed in the music.

3) The Forum aftershow after the Wembley Stadium gig.

Absolutely gutted that I missed SOTT though due to the London gig being cancelled, 'cos judging by what I've seen on the official and unofficial videos it looked amazing.

I've seen a few now;

Nude tour
Greatest Hits
Gold Experience
ONA
Went more than once to each tour!

just missed out on Lovesexy and he never made it here for the SOTT tour!

I have enjoyed them all but the one that sticks out in my mind was at the front on the Greatest hits tour with Diamonds and Pearls and the NPG. I remember he went to the back of the stage just in front of the Drums and help up a newspaper, the Daily Mirror when they printed the picture of Michael Jacksons nose collapsing on the front page. I remember him pointing at it laughing his head off. That was memorable!

In fact all the concerts were memorable for one reason or another!

I hate it when they announce Prince has retired from tours. It will never happen, he lives and breathes for touring.

Live 4 Love!
(Amazing live) still sends shivers down my spine!

It's a toss up between Lovesexy, because I liked it in the round, and Jam of the Year, which I saw from the front row in Minneapolis. (or was it St Paul- I thought it was at the Target Center)

I've seen only the nude tour , the jam of the year and the one nite alone tour , so 2 me the best is the ONA tour and particulary the Bataclan 2002.
