I Wonder U, 8, and D'Angelo's "Africa"

So, call me slow on the uptake, but I just finished listening to D'Angelo's Voodoo for the first time. I've read up on the album a lot but never actually listened.

The last track, "Africa," just finished playing and it caught my ear. On the Wikipedia page, it states that D'Angelo and Soulquarians listened to Parade all night then came up with this jam as a result. The drum beat is a direct nod to "I Wonder U."

BUT, can anyone else also hear the similarities to Madhouse's "8?" The synth/music box type instrument is playing almost the exact same line as the one in "8."

Not saying it's a bad thing, at all. "8" is a great track that deserve more attention and this whole album is awesome from front to back, even on my first listen.

The connection to "8" is undeniable to me, anyone else hear it, too?

D'angelo is an excellent musician. everybody has influences.
voodoo & brown suger both brilliant albums.
As 4 the madhouse albums & prince trax not much attention is made because prince
has caused 2 much friction in the music industry. having said that much love & respect 2 him. I agree with him most times.
