I saw him in Bunkers in the summer of 1995 I believe. My wife and I were in Minneapolis vacationing. Dr. Mambo's Combo played a great set. I remember the sax player playing a solo while he walked outside, up the sidewalk, and returned inside still playing his solo. After their set, the lights went down, and when they came up Prince's guitar was on the stage. Of course, the place went wild, and Prince with body guard was sitting just one table away. Since Bunkers was crowded to standing room only, there were a few people between our table and his. The NPG Band (Sonny, Mr. Hayes, and Michael B.) took the stage and played a really funky groove. Well, the song, which I can't remember, seemed like an odd choice, but their performance of it was funky. I can't remember if they played one song or two. (We also attended a performance at Paisley Park so I don't want to confuse the performances.) Just when Prince was about to leave his table and move toward the stage, a drunk female, I think she was a University of Minnesota student, rushed his table as the body guard did a very poor job of keeping her from the table. She was saying, "Oh my god is that Prince. I just want to get a closer look at him.) After about five minutes of not being able to control the woman, Prince made a dash from his table, out the back door, and into the waiting limousine. It wasn't a long run because we were all at the tables near the rear entrance. Bunkers isn't that big so even though we were at the back or side back of the room, we still had a good view of the stage. I remember Sonny looking puzzled, waiting for Prince to arrive at the stage as the band had no idea what had happened in the back. Finally someone made it to the stage and told them what happened. They seemed pretty bummed like they were ready to play. Like I said, Bunkers was packed and the energy was electric. I think they may have played one more song with Dr. Mambo's Combo because I remember having a faint hope that Prince would return. He never did.
To this day, my wife hates "drunk ass women and weak ass body guards."

I saw him there back in 1999 or 2000. I went with a friend that goes to church with Larry Graham. It was wierd because by friend Darrin introduced me to Larry Graham and Price was sitting about 5 feet away. I asked Larry if I could be introduced and he told me to just go over and say hello. I walked up to Prince, said hello and told him I enjoyed him music. He smiled and said thank you. I turned around and walked away. I was shocked that he was down to earth and was just sitting around. He did not get up and play. Larry and a few others he played with from the Family Stone got up and played about 3 songs. Cool evening...
