How do you know if you have an original 88 pressing of The Black album and not a 95 reissue?

mine looks like this one..and it says "1988" in the back. no tracklist on the actual record, but i dont know...does anyone know how you know?

plus i bought it for $25...i'd think an original would cost more, unless i lucked up shrug

If you want to check out and compare originals to your own (which, as mentioned above is not an original):

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I don't even know what I have. I bought the "Black," album when it came out...and shortly thereafter traded it at the store...

Later I bought the album again. Put it this way..."It's in the bottom box." cool
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

thank u guys for this info...

i am a vinyl HOUND! and of course a Prince Vinyl hound.. was just at Spitalsfields market in London and picked up some awesome stuff..

Anyway, back here in the US, I pick up the Black Album whenever I see it on Vinyl.. Kind of like an addiction.....Its kind of like that show 'Hoarders'...

So i just went into my basement and this is what i found:

- 1987 German Pressing (got this for $5 at Streetlight Records here in SF..same day found the Birthday 12' Version of Gett Off for $2.95! ) that is what makes vinyl digging so cool..both are in perfect condition.

- 1994 Peach Colored Vinyl Version - cant remember where i got this. Mint condition

- 1994 German Version on Black Vinyl - $20 at amoeba in sf Good condition

- 1994 DJ Promo on Black Vinyl - bought this at amoeba in LA for $50. Mint Condition

anyone have any idea of the value of this stuff?
im going to dig into ebay and check it out.. but if anyone has it at their fingertips, that would be cool.

thanks again for the info!

found some on the internet.. definitely NOT as valuable as i thought! but cool anyway..

looks like the 1987 black vinyl goes for $80 - $200 depending on the condition.
the 1994 DJ copy can be found pretty inexpensively: $25 - $50
the 1994 black vinyl is anywhere from $40 - $80 depending on the condition.
i havent found the peach colored one, though.....or that Get Off Birthday edition....
