Although New Power Soul is one of my least favorite albums, it contains one of Prince's better songs of the 1990s: Wasted Kisses. I always thought the tone/subject matter of the song made it a better fit for Rave.

The ONLY good song from that album.

I can't listen to it anymore though, its one of those songs that alter my mood radically.

It's a great song, very original and one of his best from the 90s.

Y does it seem nobody likes NEW POWER SOUL? I think it was a great CD.

Whatever , "when u love somebody " kills on New power soul

I like Newpower Soul very much indeed and Wasted Kisses is the best song on there, alongside The One. However, it fits perfectly where it is and not on Rave.

Although musically it's interesting, the lyrics are really dark and contribute to put one's mood down

I like that song.

yes, was so glad to find it as a hidden track on NPS. that album was a definite audio turd. The One is good too and Until Ur In My Arms again but Wasted Kisses i'd rank first of the three.

It started with drum and piano...then Prince started the "Why did I waste my kisses on you, baby..." refrain. It took people awhile to stop talking...and he asked, "Y'all know that jam?" Some of us yelled, "Yeah!" He got us singing with him and asked, "It's cold, right?" Mike Phillips went into a sax solo. "Here come the chorus, y'all - sing it...who got the chorus?" Some of us sang it...but it was clear that most folks didn't know the song.

Then Prince said, "Y'all ain't tryna sing. On the one." And then it was over.

I love this song because I have wasted kisses on quite a few people. LOL ! I love his delivery on this and when he gets to the end his vocal phrasing
just gets to me. So subtle yet so soulful. Love it.

This was and is a great song. I know I am in the minority on this one, but NPS was one of my favorite albums. Me and a lady friend of mine use to dance, vibe, and sex to this album in the late summer early fall of 98". It was a great time period for me.
