Prince have great solos, but what about guitar riffs?

Prince is great on lead guitar and you can find a lot
of great guitar solos on his records, but what about guitar riffs ?
Keith Richards have Satisfaction
Deep Purple have Black Knight,Burn
AC/DC have Back to black

i'm not sure Prince wrote instant classic riffs but this is my list:
When U Were mine
Lets Go Crazy
Bambi
Guitar
Interactive
Zannele
...

Kiss has an instant classic guitar riff. When it comes on everyone knows exactly what song it is.

In addition to the songs you mentioned I like the riffs in Endorphin Machine and Electric Chair.

Purple Rain has possibly the greatest riff of all time in rock+soul music. It's an absolute gift from God.

Whereas a song like Back in Black has a great hook, Purple Rain reaches down to the core of your emotional senses.

Yeah Purple Rain is simply phenominal. Seeing him perform it on Rave Unto the Joy 2000 was pretty awesome also.

The guy is one hell of a guitarist

I dig "i like it there". That opening riff sounds like the amp is waiting to explode. "I'm Yours" is great too.

Definitly:
- "Purple Rain" (simple chords actually, but nonethless classic!)
- "When You Were Mine" (whenever l hear that guitr riff, l start tapping my feet excited )
- I Hate U (same for the beginning)

How about synths riffs?
- "Controversy"
- "1999"
- "Little Red Corvette" (love those synth slow strings)

While both are marvellous, wonderful songs, there is no "guitar riff" in any of them.

I agree, everytime I hear Purple Rain I get this warm fuzzy feeling inside, no matter how many times I've heard the song. Great stuff.

No one said anything about the funky-ass riff on "Dead On It" I mean the Hohner simply at it's best!
