The neighbor that I care for...he's 68 years old, came over today and I took him on a mini Prince cruise through some songs...just to mention it.

"Just as Long as we're Together," was the first song that I played him. This song does make an impact on a listener for those folx that often wonder what to play for a friend unfamiliar with Prince's career.

This thread is mainly an appreciation thread, because through the years it has been one of my favorites, especially to sing along with.

Towards the end of the song Prince sings...
Just as long as there is you...I'll be around doin' what U want me to.
Then Prince sings, "Just as long as there is me..."

When I sing along with the background vocals, I always feel the need to sing something that isn't there...and I do.

"Just as long as there is me....(I'll be around...that's a guarentee, suga!)

Just givin' it up for this great song.

One of the redeeming songs from his debut album.

Most of the other 'dance' songs on For You sound rather generic and not very exciting. This one shows a lot more energy, and shows some impressive playing during the instrumental coda (as someone else mentioned: great middle part, with the bass-work and the percussion)

It was rare though for him to use a lower register until the Contoversy album - top of my head, this may be the only track from the first 3 albums !!

This is the only song I like on "For You". I'll get the music baby you bring the wiiiine. Love it! The instrumental ending is great to jam along with as well. Another reason I like it is because it's in B major, which is quite a difficult choice of key to use on a keyboard based song as it uses 6 black keys & only 1 white key. Well I think it's difficult anyway, but I've only been playing Piano for 6 months lol. The same applies for "I wanna be your Lover". Great to practice jamming along with for novice piano players

It's the best song on that whole album, IMO.
