It does make you less purple but it also makes you more sane. The obvious choice is #2. The world wins.

Back in the early 90s, when I was in my late teens and early 20s, I would have taken Prince and let everything else go without hesitation.
Now, I have 5 musicians that compete for the top spot as my favorite of all time. I couldn't choose one to the exclusion of the others. I'd have to let Prince go if only for David Bowie, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and R.E.M. But it would be painful either way.

Prince's music wouldn't be Prince's music the way you love it without his having listened to and emulated a plethora of musical influences while he was growing up... Just the same way a connoisseur of music can't appreciate Prince without having some background of experience with other musicians and genres in order to truly appreciate his music...

Lock me in The Vault and I'll take option 1. I wish Prince love, long life, and freedom from the shackles of Jehovah.

you know, if live boots are included i'd most likely go with 1 . he's pretty much all i DID listen to for quite some time when bootlegs and thangs came into my life . there was (and is, i guess) always something different to hear. even if it's just a slightly different variation on something i've already heard a bunch of times already . i'm a bit more varied now, but still bump alot of our boy i can almost always get into it with him (for example, i new power soul ), whereas with other artists they're always hit and miss with me . For all time I am with you, you are with me.
