Other than Crystal Ball 2 Prince has pretty much fulfilled everyones wants and desires since his Emancipation. I can't remember if the official website at the time was www.thedawn.com or www.love4oneanother.com but I recall an online poll where fans were asked what they would like to see and the top responses were an acoustic album, a piano album, a jazz album and a live set. He's released it all in The Truth, One Nite Alone, Xpectation, and One Nite Alone Live. What will be expected of him next?

I've learned to "expect" the unexpected, but I'd wish for a stripped down, raw, rock/funk record, similar in style to "The Undertaker", but funkier.
The funk equivalent of the One Nite Alone demo CD. "Exodus II" with guitars and a live drummer.

How about a Rock Hard Album? Hmmm, i think Eddie VanHalen is available and Santana for a guitar duet. That would be big.
Every Rock magazine would finaly bow down.

Another Crystal Ball, but instead having tracks like demo's and unrealeased extended versions of Kiss and others.

As I recall, you are most likely referring to the poll taken at the first Celebration in 2000, when attendees were given a choice as to what Prince would work on. By this stage, The Truth had already been made available, but I recall that the options did include a piano album, a jazz album and live material.
However, these did not win the poll. Instead people voted for their choice for the next Crystal Ball, and a rock guitar album. Prince announced the results on the website and stated that the Paisley park staff had been set to work on the product. The outcome: he appears to have deleivered the other stuff on the list instead. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |

He used to be a man of great vision.
Then came the great losses in his life the last 3 years. I hope he takes a long overdue break.

A really loud guitar album would be great. With the guitar
really up front and screaming, like a lot of the songs he did during the aftershows and at the celebration this year. But also a straight up FuNk record. Something so nasty it would distort your face as if exposed to mach 7. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I would love to see more new music from the man, but more than that, I would like to see him take a few months off and spend time with his wife and maybe make a baby. Everyone needs time off and everyone needs to spend quiet time with their mates.

a) yes it was on celebration 1 in 2000 we had the chance 2 vote
b) langebleu FUNK! & Rock - but futurebased, visionary, fresh, weird, with nice guest appeareances (such as vernon reid, james brown, van halen, bernard allison, keziah jones, george C, and others) - time will tell it - but 2 b honest: the jazzy stuff was not really my style... TRC is a great album, but i am looking 4ward 4 some fresh funky tunez with killer guitar and fuzzy keyboards (like in 95 when he played the waxx) u know am sayin? keep the fonk alive! -------------------------------------------------

No this wasn't the celebration vote. This was an online poll right before the Truth album was released. This was an online poll on one of his official websites. It was during the time that a rumoured acoustic album entitled "Heart" surfaced. Surely somebody else remembers this besides me.
