Interactive or Dreamer
My vote goes to Interactive
Interactive is one of the best and hardest rocking Prince songs ever with AMAZING GUITAR SOLO.
Dreamer is great but not up there with his best rockers.

too bad Prince dont play Interactive live
maybe he forgot the solo?

Damn..two of my favorite songs...but I'll go with Interactive just because I've rocked to it longer..In a year or so, my choice may change

i personally feel that Interactive is way over rated therefore I feel it sux a big f'n donkey ball compared to Dreamer.

Dreamer is better. I do like them both. Maybe i picked Dreamer because theres more guitar playing and Interactive is 2 short. A good opponet for Dreamer is a song called ENDORPHINMACHINE

I don't think "Dreamer" has been around long enough for a challenge like this, but I'll pick it over "Interactive". I think I like it better because of the message.

I love Dreamer, but this one has to go to INTERACTIVE!

It's just quirkier and more special in sound, somehow.

I'm not too keen on either, but I'll go with Dreamer as I just find that a bit boring as opposed to irritating

Chaos & Disorder is his most convincing stab at the genre, but even then, he doesn't bring anything particularly original to the table.

It is perfectly arranged, yet not overproduced. The synth-string sound during the chorus may be called "quirky" by many, which is what is mainly appreciated in Prince's music. Furthermore, that sound has the "attack" a certain sound in a certain Prince song we all love has, too. You love that song too, I'm quite sure about that. The song is called If I Was Your Girlfriend.
The chord progression is typical. It his not highly experimental, nor is it basic and simple. The harmony, however, surrounds the chords with the typical Prince sound, so do the revolutionary backing vocals. The word "revolutionary" is relative and originates from my opinion about the song, but nobody can even question that the change of harmony by two simple notes in one of the backing vocals is the essence of an extraordinary piece of work.
The lyrics are giving the impression of being well-thought-out, giving hints and attacking social issues and human fantasy, but still leaving the topic space to breathe for the listener to fill it with own emotions and theories.
The delivery is flawless and perfect. Perhaps this can be called "too polished" by many, who say they started liking his sound less and less since the construction of Paisley Park, but as you say that you do enjoy the rest of this album very much, the crisp clear sound doesn't seem to bother you in particular.

You are, of course, afterall, entitled to your own opinion and could answer all this by simply saying "I just don't like the sound of it and you don't have to understand, nor agree!". However, I am confident that you know it would not be productive to simply dismiss my suggestion to listen to this song a couple of times again, before really being so assured that it is just is not good enough to keep up with the rest of The Gold Experience.

Remember, you are not a Fam for stating that a post 80's Prince album is full of great songs and that it is all a flawless, inspired piece of work. Because The Gold Experience certainly is, and Shy is a part of it.

'Shy' has space rather than emptiness, something a lot of his best songs have, but if you'd replace it with Interactive or worst yet Rock and Roll..., then I can see why you wouldn't be feeling that.
