Man, I racked my brain and I just can't pick anything. They are ALL so great.

Wendy or Lisa screwed me up forever when whichever of them said that Prince's harmonies are "to die for". Now, all I listen for are the harmonies!

As far as "7", at the end when the harmonies sound like a choir, are all the vocals Prince? It sounds like a female is singing along. I always thought it was the Steeles.

How 'bout Pink Cashmere?Simply joyous.A much under-appreciated song in my book. How he pieces the various vocals together is incredible. In fact,I'm off to play it now!

How could I forget Pink Cashmere! Very underrated, I also think Claire Fischer did his best work on that song...

I think it's just Prince's vocals stacked on top of each other. I know I thought I heard a female voice in "Crucial" but I believe that's just him too.

For You
Adore

They are both at the top of my list, and it's so appropriate that he starts with For You on his first album to show his vocal ability. I still say to people who question his vocal talent to listen to his first album.

"An Honest Man". Particularly the harmony parts on the line "and if I die, we'll be together side by side."

Always gave me goosebumps. I love when he creates his own choir.

I have to say that I think the most INVENTIVE harmonies are on the song "Tick, Tick Bang".

Wow. Everytime I listen to that song I hear a new harmony I've never heard before.

Of course the aforementioned "Adore" is in their too -
has anyone mentioned "Comeback" yet? - wish that song was looped.

I don't know about best, but I thought these were great:

The last part of "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold"

Various sections in "God Created Woman"

And Colonized Mind has all sort of brilliant, slightly muted, and understated moments in it that impress me in the 'Marvin Gaye' kind of way.

From the top of my head and from what i have read here:

Still Waiting:
Those background vocals are so very smooth sounding.

Tambourine:
Very impressive harmonies for such an (otherwise) stripped down song. They do not sound smooth or 'perfect' as on some of his other songs, they sort of 'wringe' and that makes them so brilliant.

Adore (of course)

And God created women (as others have mentioned here)

Thieves in the Temple (extended version):
These harmonies / background vocals are almost 'opera'-like.

Tick, Tick, Bang, Bang:
See 'Tambourine'

Do U Lie?:
My favourite Wendy and Lisa background vocals.

If I was your girlfriend:
Distorted, hypnotic, psychedelic. Very typical of his use of background vocals in the eighties.
