What do you think?

Let's hope 52 is the year 52 of this era instead of his age.

And he had a beautiful backup plan.

Well, since Prince has no longer been celebrating birthdays for the past decade that means he's virtually ageless. Not being up-to-date with his own age, why would he even consider choosing one particular moment in his life to retire? So, saying that he will retire at 52 just doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, it seems common knowledge that the man is a workaholic and he'll be making music until he can no longer hear (although deafness never prevented Beethoven from composing), and he'll stop performing when his fingers can no longer run up and down the neck of his guitar.

It seems that he's pulled back a bit in his output though. I've felt he's taken a slower approach to making music in the past 10 years. On average, we've gotten an album every other year, opposed to every year. 1998 had two releases, but one was a compilation (Crystal Ball). Rave was 1999, but The Painbutt Children wasn't until 2001. Two years.
Musicology 2004. That was three years.
3121 was 2006. Another two years.
Planet Earth 2007. Back on the old schedule
Lotus 2009. Two years.

Sure we had Indigo Nights in 2008, but how hard was that to make since he was playing live shows anyway? Same with One Nite Alone Live in 2002. Just a tour CD.

I just say all that to say, I personally don't think he's recording a song a day anymore, like he probably once did. Things slow down. People slow down. Life happens. He seems to travel a lot sometimes, or he's busy having houses torn down (giggle). Remember when he'd release an album, put out a single or two, a video or two, then release the third single, and the tour would mount up soon for 4 months or so. Fourth single was out during the tour. Maybe a fifth single if needed. Then a break of about 4 or 5 months, then suddenly....new album. Rinse, repeat as necessary. These days it's album, little bit of hype, make promises about expensive website in the middle of a depression, one single release, lose interest in project, laugh on way to Bank of America, fuck girlfriend in Paris, take heavy meds for hip pain. etc etc. wink

Hey, just goes to show that the man keeps busy in one way or another! wink

That being said, you're absolutely right, he has slowed down on his output in the last 10 years compared to his roaring 80s and 90s, but even if he doesn't count the BDays (therefore the years he has piled up in the last decade have become immaterial) the man IS getting OLD(er).

I believe he'll continue his art (whether good or bad) until he just gets bored with the whole thing providing his physical condition allows him to carry on as long as he desires.

In my previous post I was being facetious because the numerology theory served by some of our fellow orgers is just pure BS to me...

As I stated earlier, God made humans because He wanted someone to CHOSE to be with him, rather than not having a free will. All the cards are always on the table w/ God, even in the Garden. Eve had free choice, as did Adam later, to eat of the fruit or not. They chose to disobey God, and thereby was separated from him.

Yeah, "7" is a song on a Prince album. It's a spiritual number. So is 6, 40, 3, 12, 1, 10, etc etc. Don't try to make him all spiritual because some shiz adds up to 7.

I honor ur truth but I'm gonna have 2 speak this forth...
I see dots and I connect them...2 me he is extremely spiritual and brilliant for there is *in how I see it* a cronological order which wraps in and out of his music, there are clues that go 2 this song/album 2 another song and album, in sequences. I see them.. He is surely wraping things in a "spiritual way" I heard the words on 3121 then went back and listen 2 the song 7, considering on 3121 he quotes the words Moses was pharaoh in the 18th dynasty. Which I already knew, so I reflected deeper in the akashic records and found Ikhnaten/Moses. I then went back 2 Ikhnaten, and his uniting under 1 God and I saw a connection 2 the song 7, especially because of this...
http://www.biblewheel.com...eaning.asp
On these 2 pages it talks about 4, 12 which is also in the song of 7
http://www.danielrevelati..._Seals.htm
No1 else might see that but I do for it was layed out that way for me 2 see it as so..
Again back on topic, I quote.. I don't work everything I do is for fun..
So if some1 has never "worked" could they ever retire?
[Edited 12/17/09 20:06pm]

See.....God ain't got nothing to do with all that, and there's a lot of us who have spiritual numbers in our names, if you buy into that numerology bullshit. Anyone can come up with some spacey and "Ohhhhh, it MEANS something" if they twist the numbers enough. Prince ain't no more spiritual than anyone else who believes in God, or any less.

nice post. Whoever is talking about man creating man without God mean evolution and rerevolution because we are Gods ourselves. Wasnt that Satan's very argument in Eden? Careful careful with these words and what they imply. We always need God and always will. "We are made in his image" that scripture has been muddied up in this day and age. What does it really mean when Jesus spoke of it? How did Jesus view humans and God and what did he teach about it? Thats where we get our answer.

The devil's argument to Eve was that she wouldn't die if she ate from the Tree of Knowledge. The devil told her she wouldn't die. He said "God knows your eyes will be opened and you will become just like God, knowing everything about good and evil." Eve was convinced that she would be wise if she ate it, and she did. Then she deceived her husband to do the same. Sin entered the world at that point.

Interesting note that Eve told the serpent that they couldn't eat or TOUCH it lest they die. Yet God never said that to her. He simply said "Don't eat it". He never mentioned touching it. It seems that while simple interaction between Eve and the enemy, she became confused a bit by his presence, not even having eaten of the fruit yet.

So yes, the enemy straight out lied, knowing it would separate them from God. I've said before, that is the enemy's sole purpose, is to separate people from God. It's nothing but vengeance and hate for God on his part. But once we know the enemy and know what his purpose is, we have the upper hand. What's that saying about "1 + God is a majority." That separation also comes about with the enemy creating perverted "versions" of the things God set forth.
Prophets? Nope, psychics.
Prayer? Nope, conjuring of spirits, or seances, etc.
Word of Knowledge? Nope, Tarot cards or tea leaves, or psychic consultations.
Word from God? Nope, message from the beyond.

The list goes on. Everything the enemy does is a perversion of what God put forth. Everything.

I agree, yet there is the instance where God continuously hardens the heart of the pharaoh, and the Bible says this exclusively through every single curse laid on Egypt that the reason the pharaoh does not repent is because God hardens his heart. This takes all control away from the pharaoh. Hm.

I have kids. i knew when I decided to have kids that a few things were certain. I knew that they will mess up, or sin, and that they will have sickness, suffering, heartbreak, and eventually they will die. Perhaps even a slow and horrible death, though I hope not. In a way I am sort of a prophet general on their lives before they are even born. Doesn't mean that I love them any less. Not at all. And in sense you could look at it as though I have sentenced them to all of these bad situations simply by giving birth to them.
But to take any of this away from either of them takes away their humanity, and a large chunk of it. It's part of the human plan. Did I set my kids up? Did my parents set me up? Did my Heavenly Father set me up?
We can't be human, or have the freedom that is defined as free will, without any of it. It would be impossible. Otherwise we would be robots in a sense, and then everything would be set up.
So in short, the only way to have created us and given us free will means that at all knowing God knew we would mess up.... and though it may seem like a set-up, I think it was better than not creating us at all simply to avoid the consequences of free will.
We are all so full of doody here
