I made one of these awhile ago, so I think I'll dig it out and see what I came up with.
As for the Best of that he had planned for release, I think it was 2 discs of mostly Prince songs, rerecorded during the name change period of 1993-2000. It was supposed to contain 4 new songs too I believe.

I would vote to skip this album...
Bring on the new stuff! [This message was edited Mon Jan 13 17:43:05 PST 2003 by Thierry] _______________________________________________________________________________________

Ugh. That's all the world needs. Nothing is going to be as good as the originals ("1999 The New Master" proved that) so why even bother?

But just think about his current live band, tour and Celebration. If he re-recorded some of his classic cuts (not necessarily the biggest hits) with this lineup, I would love to hear those. His renditions of Peach, All the Critics, ICNTTPOYM, etc. are mind-blowing.

Oh yes!! The way he played those at the celebration was just superb. "Peach" sounded so cool. First that weird woodbind, others here with us kind of introduction and then *WACKSTOMPBOOM* that funky beat drops and that fun keyboards effect Renato did. Same with ICNTTPOYM, which sounded different enough to be amazing and yet not take away from the original. Same with Dolphin, All The Critics, Something In The Water, Bambi, The ? Of U, With U [at the piano] and a whole range of others. First, I thought this "Best Off" with new recordings of old hits would be the worst thing ever. But now, with this band and these kind of re-arrangements, I think it could possibly be one of the BEST things ever. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
