I think the original song would fit very well on "Controversy". It could have easily replaced "Ronnie talk to Russia" or "Anne Christian". It would've made side two on "Controversy" more cohesive.

There is the lyrical version which is a bit slower and the instrumental which is faster and heard in the movie Purple Rain, as background club music during the Apollonia/Morris:Chili Sauce exchange My favorite live version was at his June 7th 1984 Birthday show at 1st Avenue lyrical with the speed of the instrumental and it was wild. It closed the show out...proceeded by Irrisistable Bitch. Those 2 are what I consider his nod to James Brown vibe via Purple Music | |
