Something In The Water Video

Did Prince create a video for "Something in the Water" from the 1999 album?
Also has he ever performed "Something in the Water" in concert?

Thank you,

Daood

nope. he never made a video for 'something in the water' although i would personally like to see one.

i think he's only played that song once at a club show with The Revolution during the Purple Rain days and maybe at a few aftershows later in his career.

He actually played SITWDNC during his acoustic set on the Musicology Tour in Detroit.. I was shocked and very pleased that he did..

I can't imagine that song being performed acoustically, being that its a dark meloncholy song with haunting keyboard playing that underscores the lyrics.

Yeah it was the shocker of the night for me.. it was done really well.. but of course this version didn't have the sonic, gutteral screaming as in the recorded version.. and it wasn't nearly as long.. as some of the other acoustic numbers he cut it short..

There's also some sweet ass rehearsal stuff of him performing it several times in early 80s. Also video of that Roadhouse Garden rehearsal where he plays it.

Yeah, I was at that show - he played it solo at the piano - the gasps were audible.

Yep. At the O2 I'm sure I could hear a snigger go around the room when he sang that - his legs aren't what they used to be, I suppose.

One of my all-time favorite P songs, and a reason 1999 is still prob my fav of his albums. You really get the sense of a single person in his basement making extremely personal and unusual music. It is very brave in a way.

It's a composition that reminds me of Gary Numan style of music. He must have been in the basement because that song is dark as midnight in a town with no street lights; yet musically and vocally screaming, catapulting this master piece into some kind of wonderful, that really can't be put into words!

Any thoughts about "Computer Blue" in comparison to "Something In the Water?"

The original demo of "Something in the Water" is great also. It's MUCH darker than the released version, and with extra piano parts as well.

It's out there smile

Length is 4.03, although the album version is that length too so that doesn't mean much lol.

There's some different vocals as well. I prefer this version. This should have been the album version. It's way more atmospheric, although the vocal take is a bit looser.
