Do you think Prince would have success if he make demo like album

in 1980 Prince delivered Dirty Mind his most demo
feel like album.
as the years went prince music started to go from
raw and funky to too much polished sound.

If Prince make album with linn drum ,bass ,synth and guitar with minimum overdubbing do you think he would hit the jack point/

If it's quality material, yes. ONA Piano was basically demo material, but it's limited availability relegated it to becoming an obscure classic.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Are you saying his success is indirectly proportional to the sound quality of his albums? lol

Whatever you perceive to be his current lack of success, its certainly not down to audio fidelity. Dirty Mind was successful primarily because the music on there was of a high quality - of secondary interest was the quirkiness of it being released pretty much straight off the demos (which, in fact, was not Prince's idea either, but rather his management team - if I remember correctly, it was Steve Fargnoli). And that was only of interest then because it was basically unheard of. Lo-fi releases have been quite the rage in a few genres, so its nothing new or unique any more.

As Squirrelgrease said, it would be more about quality of music, though that doesn't always translate in to success (however it is you are defining that - if you mean Top40 hit, that rarely means quality!) wink

i'm not talking in terms of global success
prince's classic and best work wasn't overproduced

i'm talking about simplicity
imagine if Prince make album similar to songs like Dance 4 me but even more raw in sound.
i'm talking about stripped down sound with very simple album
more Dirty Mind less Emancipation if you know what i wanna say smile

funksterr

Yes. I think so. His funk songs have that pop slickness to them lately and it's not so good. A lot of his better tracks are more raw. That and drop the condescending lyrics and old man bitchiness that's all over the last 3 albums. Make more songs about ditzy girls who walk in through the out door and break your heart again.
