Probably off-topic to have a discussion about it here, but: I guess reviewing the track you could say it's just another JB-style jam, but it's one of those first singles from a new P album that got me really excited and grabbed me somewhere... All those trax keep echoes of that effect even when they're old and overplayed (Kiss anyone?). Very few recent tracks have done that for me - BS and Fury did (that's why I like 3121) and maybe the opening track of TRC. That's about it since, I dunno, Dolphin? So I thought you blokes under-rated the song. And some of you were dissing the digital bits - that's the genius of it! He's saying "real music by real musicians" as usual with his tongue way out in his cheek: he can do both! When he calls "horns" and the synths kick that's brilliant, coz he's saying: I can do James, but could James do this? Remember, after all that "real music" bullshit, most of the album is a one-man band and he followed it up with 3121!!! "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

He ends the decade in an interesting way with lotusflow3r his best of the decade and beyond, paired with one of his all time most cringeworthy.
For me,If he would have ended this decade with just Msound, i would have thought him to be just a great touring performer wih a awesome back catalog to back him up. But now but Lotus left open that he may still have more great new music in him.

For me, this was a very difficult list to put together, not because there were that many songs to choose from, but its hard to decide how to rank them. I put Black Sweat on top because it took me by totally surprise him going back to his no-bass line 80's period on a single release. Dreamer is simply put, a jaw-dropping Hendrixian excercise.

Hmmm... but you are also the same guy who said that the only Prince album you can listen to straight through was 1999 and continually makes Troll posts.... So, it's hard to really take your opinion on all things Prince seriously....lol [Edited 1/10/10 13:21pm]

I went ahead a calculated eveyones lists . I assumed all lists were no particular order and each song mention was worth one vote. So here are the orgs Top 10 Prince songs of the decade.
10 F.U.N.K (2007) On November 5, 2007, several fan sites of Prince formed "Prince Fans United" to fight back against legal requests they claim Prince made to cease and desist all use of photographs, images, lyrics, album covers and anything linked to Prince's likeness. While Prince's lawyers claimed that the use of such representations constituted copyright infringement, the Prince Fans United claimed that the legal actions were "attempts to stifle all critical commentary about Prince." On November 8, 2007, the site received a song named "PFUnk" providing a kind of "unofficial answer" to their movement. On November 20, 2007 the song was released on iTunes, retitled "F.U.N.K. 9. Reflection (2004) 8. Dance 4 Me (2009) 7. Musicology (2004) "Musicology" title track from his 2004 album Musicology. The song is an ode to James Brown's style of funk music popularized in the early 1970s. In the United States, the song received solid airplay on Urban Adult Contemporary radio stations. The song arguably enjoyed larger success as a video with television airplay, as it was played regularly on MTV, BET, and VH1. Outside of the U.S., the song enjoyed considerable success on the pop charts in a number of countries. Specifically, "Musicology" went Top 40 in Argentina, Australia, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland. 6. Call My Name (2004) "Call My Name" , from his 2004 album Musicology. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 2005. Although it was not commercially released as a single, it received enough radio airplay to reach #75 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #27 on the R&B chart. 5. Colonized Mind (2009) 4. 3121 (2006) 3. Fury (2006) "Fury" , from his 2006 album 3121. The single was debuted live on Saturday Night Live on February 4, 2006. It was also part of Prince's four song set at the 2006 BRIT Awards. The song was released as the third single from 3121 in the UK on May 30, 2006, and reached number sixty on the UK Singles Chart. The single's B-sides are a live version of the song, and "Te Amo Corazón", both performed at the 2006 BRIT Awards. In addition to being released as a CD single, it was also released on a 12" vinyl single as a picture disc. The CD single also had a video of the live performances. 2. Dreamer (2009) Track from 2009 release Lotusflow3r. The song was featured in Target commercials for promotion of the album. "Dreamer" has received a 2010 Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance - Male. 1. Black Sweat (2006) "Black Sweat" was released as the second single from his 2006 album 3121. The music video to accompany the single was released on February 2, 2006. At the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Best R&B Song and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. For the week ending March 11, 2006, "Black Sweat" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number sixty, and at number eighty-three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks chart. It also debuted at number one on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Sales chart, which tabulates both physical and digital sales. The song's initial surge of 11,500 digital singles sales was prompted by a month-long promotion with iTunes, in which four consumers would win a private concert performance by Prince "Black Sweat" debuted at number two on the Canadian Singles Chart for sales. The track was released March 27, 2006 in the UK, and charted at #43 on the UK singles chart. In Italy the single peaked at #24.

No, I said it was difficult because I would have loved to fit at least another 10 in there. Don't you make me a hater, woman! I could easily name at least 25 favs from this decade, so I hear you. I am not even going to try to narrow my list down to 10. I am a bit shocked that I don't see Muse 2 the Pharaoh on anyone's list. That would definitely be near the top of mine!
