I don't think Prince ever said that he'd deny the kinky side of himself. He's often said that he stopped using 'bad words' because they offend people. But he never said that he'd stop writing songs about his life and experiences.
I know the logic still doesn't work out for some people. After all, if you say "what the F...." you might as well be saying "What the fuck" because the intent is still the same. But you have to keep in mind that when Prince says something, nuances within what he's saying abound. He says, "four letter words will not be heard up on this stage tonight" he gets around this new self-limiting rule by replacing those words with 'code' words that the FCC wouldn't complain about. He once said 'Music should be free' back in 1993, but what he meant was that music should be free, and for a one time $100 NPGMC subscription it can absolutely be free. But for a second time, a $77 subscription gets you even more free music. Prince is complex. | |
