Even though Prince is the star.... Even though Prince is the star, is there a certain band member (from any era) that you look for or keep your eyes on during performances? For example: We all love Prince, but at any performance/video/concert I always kept my eyes on Lisa! Just to see which part she is playing and how cool and laid back she is. Even in Purple Rain, I kept my eyes on Lisa. I just noticed in the beginning segment, when Wendy is practcing her guitar, Lisa is blowing "O's" from her mouth with the cigarette smoke.

I do remember as a kid, I used to keep my eyes on Lisa to distract me from Dr. Fink because I had a fear of him. His robotic body gestures and dark sunglasses used to frighten me. I wasn't afraid of "Thriller". I was afraid of the "1999" video and "When Doves Cry" simply because Fink scared me.

With any concert...The front man gets most of the attention...or the solo's...
I look around...I watch the "group." I like to see how tight everybody is. Where Prince is concerned...I'd probably get lost in him for the most part. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I see Prince as the consummate performer, but there was one band member that I couldn't take my eyes off and that's Mayte. She was so sexy and brought a lot to his shows, especially around the Gold Experience performances. It was the perfect combination of great music and eye candy!

John Blackwell
Just a phenomenal drummer! Musicology and ONA were my favorite tours.

When I went to the Musicology Tour, I definitely was looking for Rhonda that whole night.
Which was easy, because I was seated on her side of the stage! I was staring at her all night. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Lisa and Wendy definetly. It was obvious Wendy was the 'butch' and Lisa the more femmy one. All the early stuff.
I kind of watched Andre as he had as much star power as Prince, but it was like he was being forced to subdue it a bit, as to keep the limelight on Prince. Watch the Uptown video, the way he plucks the strings and then on the Dirty Mind photo, him with his unbuttoned jeans. Andre had a more powerful afro than Prince too. I think there was a apreening competition between him and Dez as well. Still the threeof them on stage together just as one journalist said, oozed star impact. Prince in the middle and Andre an Dez flanked either side. Brownmark was great as a bass player, but didn't have the strong presence Andre did, it was like Mark was more inoffensive (And no doubt less threatening to Prince). Mark took it for a while, but Andre as we all know got sick of playing second fiddle to Prince's ego. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I used to pay as much attention to Wendy and Lisa as I did Prince 84-86. TRUE BLUE

When Sheila E. and her band joined prince on stage, I always kept my eyes on Susie D for some odd reason.

For me, it was Jill first then Lisa. After that it was Wendy, then Sheila. And Sheila E. remained favorite piece of eye candy. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.” Brazilian bishop Dom Hélder Câmara

I would like to see the background singers do a little dance number, I know they shimmy while they sing but it would be fun to see more choreography

Exactly two big stars and a megastar band on the same stage, doing the same set, don't sound right at all. Its like too many cooks spoiling the broth. Prince, Andre, and the Revolution... Nah! Doesn't quite sound right. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Dez - pre-Revolution
Wendy - Revolution Cat - 87-88 After that, noone in particular. I always found Mayte annoying on stage.

Really after The Revolution, the bands never caught my eye after them. I did think Tommy Barbarella was cool though....

I think 96 thru to 99 Rhonda was one to watch and Candy Dulfer when she was in the band, also Maceo is one 2 watch, when hes playing, he has a real presence.
Back to the NPG, Michael Bland was pretty amazing (As a drummer and his presence) and then seeing Rosie Gaines sing, P was a fool to treat her the way he did. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I agree!! At that time, I thought Mayte was as interesting as Prince. Her dance, looks, and all atmosphere matched to him and his music.
