People Without I was listening to 'People Without' this morning and I LOVE it! Killer track! Very mysterious. I'm sure I read somwhere once that Prince laid down the backing track to 'People Without' but that the vocals were never recorded. The only version I know is that which can be find on 'Small Club'.
Does anyone know if a complete studio version exists? I've never seen it listed in 'Days Of Wild' or any other publications.

Turn it up 2.0 was the last book I know of and that said it was only ever recorded live. But I was talking to some people who work for Uptown in the UK and they said they were working on a new book, so maybe that will shed more light on it.
I hope there is a studio version cos that song kicks ass!

"People Without"...damn!! (for some reason, I'm too sad to play it now)
IT IS AN AMAZING TRACK. I'm not sure I would even want a studio version. The Prince.org Photo Album http://www.purplehouse.nl...ery/Jacqui

Yep People without is my favorite unreleased Prince tune of all time. The opening keyboard sections just breaks me down. However I have seen people without listed on a studio bootleg CD. I will look into it and get back with ya!!! In the mean time I have to go put in my Small Club CD AGAIN and listen to it. My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

"Peoplewithout" is totally improvised (at least on "small club") (it's only my thoughts I did not say it is the Truth)

ah, i dont really care 4 the song itself, but the lyrics are killer, but it gets a little repetitive and long.
if there was a studio one then it would be really cool if the beat was different and stuff, but we know that aint gonna happen. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I own a boot called "Love God" which was "released" in the early 90ies (with tracks like "Lisa", "Schoolyard and a wonderful version of "Noon Rendezvous"). Ther's a 3.45 min version of People Without, only instrumental, no voice. It sounds like a rude demo and as Sdldwawn said before it's not as nearly a killer as it is on "Small Club"... -----------------------------------------

The bootleg "Rude Boy" has a studio version but is suspected as a fake.

It *IS* a fake...that Rudeboy 1CD bootleg has numerous fakes and is regarded as one of the worst bootlegs ever. "Waiting to be banned"

There is a studio backing track of it on a few boots, but he never recorded vocals for it. The vocals on the "Small Club" version were completely improvised after Prince got into an animated discussion with members of his band in the limo on the way to the gig about the very topics (people without God look for happiness in narcotic form (coke, ecstacy), one night stands etc etc) he incorporated into the song he sang on stage an hour later. That's according to an article in an old edition of "Uptown". If it's true THAT is genius on legs.

I hope he doesn't re-record people without...
remember that other COOOL song from the small club: Rave un2 the joy fantastic... absolutely fabulous... and look what we made it in the re-record... I hate it... _______________________________________________________________________________________
