Moder day bands that copy Prince this video: http://www.youtube.com/wa...JJC1gKwgxU
inspired me to start this tread. Name singers and bands of recent times that copy or use Prince's Minneapolis Sound

kinda cheesy but not bad - I LOVE THAT SOUND tho! Linn Drum machine still rocks after all these years!! --- i think they need to add to the song a bit more = pretty basic. "3 1 2 1"

MGMT with "Electric Feel" obviously has a Prince sound to it. I've heard Basement Jaxx has a vey Prince inspired sound but I'm not too familiar with them.

It's dodgy ground to say that someone is 'copying' Prince, but in terms of artists that are very very very similar, I'd say:
Plantlife/Jack Splash Harmar Superstar and then there are a bunch of artists who are clearly influenced by Prince: Outkast - Speakerboxx and The Love Below Basement Jaxx - 'Remedy' album, especially 'Get me Off' Beck's Midnight Vultures album The Neptunes early production work - Kelis, ODB, Britney, Timberlake etc. Felix da Housecat Amp Fiddler D'Angelo - Voodoo album Timbaland / Missy Eliot Will.I.Am Unklejam (for those of us in the UK who remember them) And so the list goes on...
