File Sharing and the RIAA...

I have a question for you. How many of you buy albums? How many albums do you purchase per year? But most importantly, when was the last time you loved an ENTIRE album? Even LIKED a whole album?

First of all I must say that I personaly have not bought a non-Prince album in over four years. I'm sick and tired of the crap (for the most part) that record companies put out every year.

I don't think I'm alone in this. This last year record companies posted an 18% drop in sales! Sony music alone lost over 100 million dollars last year alone! But do they listen to the average consumer? Do they care? No. So I believe that you get what you deserve.

Now days if I hear a song I like I will go to my favorite record stores (WinMX or KaZaa) and download them. I don't even think twice about buying it. And when I think about it, It's pretty sad. Because I know If I do buy the album, I would have wasted my money.

Don't get me wrong, I ALWAYS buy Prince's retail stuff. I could have already downloaded One Nite Alone Live on KaZaa, but I will wait until I can find it in stores. Because I know with Prince, I will get my money's worth.

Let the mud-slinging begin... smile

Don't you think it's a little closed minded to assume that nothing aside from Prince is worth a whole album?

I can empathize with you but on the contrary I buy worthwhile albums from the stores and search for Prince on Kazaa. If he didn't think Xpectation was worth putting in stores yet then I sure won't spend the money on it. I did buy Rainbow Children but burned it and sold the original to a used CD shop when the pleasure ran out.

I buy a lot of albums. I don't understand how anyone can download whole albums from the internet. It just isn't right. I download mostly outtakes and videos or live stuff.

And just for the record: there's plenty of good music out.
Search for it and buy it.
