Anyone with basic photoshop skills could have forged that to read 'day in the life' The Lionel Hutts analogy now seems even more apt than i first realised. Ok, in an attempt to redeem myself... Could you please scan the silouhette image of Prince playing his symbol guitar from that booklet? I think its there, although i Have been wrong before if memory serves me well If you can do that i'll show you something rather puzzling. [Edited 11/28/09 16:44pm]

If you can do that i'll show you something rather puzzling. From the Tour Book: Ok, thats not how i remembered it... Does anybody know how one deletes their account? I always assumed they had doctored the twirly part of the guitar.. hence the pointy shape. However, immediately upon looking at the image you posted it seems its just the angle catsing an optical illusion. Ok.. im leaving now.. good bye.. i dont know when i'll return...

He grew up with a ton of classic rock and mainstream R&B and still listens to all kinds of music. Anything he says to the press is part of the act. Middle Class?? Nah, Prince grew up in the ghetto and he still acts like it right up to this day. He's just got more paper. On Tavis Smiley's show earlier this year, I think he even called it 'the ghetto'.

you know how you meet people that have heard of Purple Rain, 1999, and When Doves Cry but have never heard of Soft and Wet and Bambi?
Why can't it be the same for Prince, where he has heard SOME of the Beatles stuff but not all of it? This song slipped through apparently. The Beatles catalog isn't the Bible, you know. Even musically.

i don't listen to Beatles and iu think songs from their first period are not that good but after is another story.
you should give them a chance their impact is the biggest in popular music still evident today and their music is the most covered by such a palette of artist from Earth Wind & Fire to Jimi Hendrix. p.s. little trivia George Bensons record producer gave George Abbey Road album to choose one or two songs to cover ,but George liked all of the songs and covered whole album

Like most artists, not everything they did was canon. No he doesn't! How can you really say that? Yes, not "Everything they did was canon" as you put it, but they are, by any measure and by anyone in music that you ask, the most resepected and influential pop act ever and to try and diminish their impact on modern pop music is ridiculous. If they are over-rated, then who should take their place? And where would you put the Beatles in terms of their influence? And, anyway, this is going off topic - your opinion on how good the Beatles were is pretty irrelevant to this topic. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Even musically. Not a good comparison. All in all, The Beatles reached a much larger audience than Prince did/does. They are more accessible. Also, tThe Beatles were never relegated to R&B radio or niche markets. The Beatles were immediate pop sensations and only grew in popularity. The were never underground like Prince, nor did they have to fight to build a pop audience. Prince grew up in Minneapolis (no "black" radio stations or R&B), in the height of Beatlemania (60's and 70's). It is VERY unlikely that he didn't know the song. Especially by 2004. Prince never acted "ghetto" throughout the late 70's and all of the 80's. And any "ghetto" posturing since then is pure poser material. Ghetto people didn't jump on the New Wave but, fortunately, Prince did. Again, as per the editor of Rolling Stone magazine has said, in the 80's Prince contacted him and requeted all of the articles written by them on The Beatles and Joni Mitchell. Nuff said. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

prince grew up in north minny- and it is the hood, i live in downtown minny and i wouldnt go over north for nuthin lol. but during that time minneapolis was a (and still is) a vanilla market so the black musicians of that time grew up with mainstream rock music and it did have an effect on their versitility.

Don't forget Clapton did the main soloing on it too. Who played the drums? Ringo? If he did then it's a Beatles song as much as most of their material during that period. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

Well if it was a Lennon/mcCartney compostion..it would be known as such more than anything..THIS was a Harrison composition...and should be referred to that...it don't matter who played drums or bass..or kazoo for that matter. I find it interesting that Prince, who usually does not really like the spotlight - let it all hang out on this performance. It kinda makes you wonder what exactly he was trying to prove. A brilliant moment, but an odd one as well. I never liked this song to begin with. But now, I can't listen to it unless it is this version. Go figure.

As long as he's on stage, he has no problem with the spotlight. He really doesn't have a problem being in the spotlight off stage either. He's one of the last stars, who's a star 24/7. The spotlight's always on for him. Even when he doesn't want it to be. Whenever he goes out in public. He's always well-dressed. No paparazzi is ever gonna catch him in some sweats and a ratty T-Shirt lookin jacked up. Apparently, from people who know him. He dresses up when he's not in public either. He even sleeps in his makeup and makes his women do the same. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

http://www.johnmccain.com/ [Edited 12/2/09 22:42pm] Prince doesn't like the spotlight??!! That's a new one! "What was he trying to prove?!" - why is that even being asked? He wasn't proving anything - he'd been inducted in to the Hall of Fame and asked to perform - what's there to prove (other than "Look, I AM worthy", but they knew that anyway, cos they put him in the Hall of Fame on the first year he was eligible!) ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...
