Any self made edits you made to prince's music?

I chopped down cloreen bacon skin toa ti ght funky 8 minutes.

I chopped down Crystal Ball ( but now I can't live without the full verson...but i still cut out the annoying whistle in the beginning)

On the SOTT concert in paris, that little funky ditty in the middle of ITS GONNA BE BEAUTIFUL NIGHT, i extended that ,which was only a few bars, to a 3+ minute instrumental jam

I cut out Prince's raps in 2 the 9's, extended the scream runs at the end.

I "Camilled" some songs. I "DeCamilled" some songs.

what have yall done? ( i know quite a few of yall "remaster" i havent got that deep yet )

i sampled lots of swearing from other records and re-edited all the post emancipation albums so they could have parental advisory warning labels. the rainbow children is a particularly interesting listen.. it has guest raps from jay z, eminem and other rappers than everyone else has forgotten about since their 15 minutes of fame on yo mtv raps

Had to break Lovesexy down to individual songs so I could burn mixed cds of those songs, but that's pretty much all I've done w/ the exception of removing Chocolate Box & TNBALM from Mplsound.

I removed that stupid computer voice speech from the start of Family Name. Much better now. Also once did a version of Daisy Chain without the rapper in it for a fellow orger.
RIP sad

yeah, myself and my brother in law done a lets work mix, adding extra beats to beef it up a bit, took out that really annoying crowd and sample bits, and the explosion sound too. we slowed $ down a bit, lowering the pitch to remove the Camille voice, and the best was ol skool company, we lowered the pitch again to get princes real voice more evident, chopped a bit from the middle and added it onto the end of the track in a looped fade out, we also put the ooh from the start of musicology and looped it in a bit too. its lots of fun and really enhances, in my opinion some songs!

I used a program to cut out Larry's "DO YOU LOVE GOD?" chant in "Everyday Is A Winding Road". It blended perfectly and it's SUCH a stronger song. I still haven't edited "Temptation", but I plan to. I only listen to track 15 of The Rainbow Children, so no edits there.

As a side note: because there are other versions/remixes of songs from the COME album, I made a playlist in iTunes of the alternate versions, but in the same track order.

Come (the other "band" version, not the "dance" version)
Space (Acoustic)
Pheromone (Album)
Loose! (video version)
Papa (album)
Race (I think I used the longer video version)
Dark (So Dark from Crystal Ball)
Solo (album)
Letitgo (one of the remixes from the maxi)
Orgasm (album)

i have an extended 8 minute version of track 15 that segues seamlessly into track 16. it took a while to put it together, so you can understand why i won't share it amongst other fans, regardless of the fact that it's illegal and prince should shit a pony if he knew his fans were sharing illegally made fan edits of his work

Strictly speaking you don't really need a mixer thesedays to mess with tunes. A sequencing programme and a half decent sound card and your away. The EQ'ing is fairly basic to what a decent mixer gives-but hey-everyones got a computer and there is free software out there wink

I did a edit of the unreleased Prince and The Revolution's The Dance Electric. Originally 11 or 12 minutes long, I turned it 2 a 4 or 5 minute edit of the song based on the Andre Cymone version. It's cool 2 listen.

I did a mashup of the 'Come On' acapella with the instrumental of Craig Mack's 'Flava In Ya Ear'. I titled the mix 'Come In Ya Ear'.

Does BNO carry on directly from SST, i thought SST faded out. i'll have to try that one, sounds like it would be great.

SST ends abruptly. I just took out the big gap and put the "explosion" from BNO at the end of SST. Viola - extended mix. biggrin

And I used Audacity, by the way.

I thought I had done that at one point and blended the two into one song. I can't find it, so I might have to do it again.

there were instructions on how to edit SST and brand new orleans together online a while back. you had to fade one into the other at a certain point and it would work seemlessly. i can't find the instructions, but i still have the lossless version i did back in the day in 1862 or whenever it was

I would think that people just listening could figure out where to blend it. I use MixMeister to blend songs like that, and it works great.
