This article reads like a fan hagiography of everything the man has ever done; it is way too long and convoluted for the casual reader looking for information on Prince.

Someone should really clean the article up, so that it lives up to basic encyclopedia standards. Oh well, maybe some day when I have time I'll do it myself.

It's not convoluted. The casual reader isn't going to browse a Prince page like that anyway. It's like saying "There are too many words in the dictionary. And why does every word have to have like three or four definitions? What's wrong with just one?"

prince wikipedia in brief

prince, born in 1958 and named after his fathers pet dog. he was a small child and did not get taller. he was shit at sports so learned to play lots of instruments to try and impress chicks. his first few albums didn't do that well so he made a movie instead and got really famous and sold lots of records. instead of repeating this success he went mental and started recording lots of weird shit and alienating the human race to the point where he changed his name to an unpronouncable scribble and went in the huff with his record company who finally let him do what he wanted on other record labels instead, which was release a bunch of crappy albums that no one gave two shits about apart from the losers on his anal fansites. he then alientated his fans by suing them all, and when his final fan started listening to michael jackson, he killed michael jackson with a drug overdose

Wikipedia might be an on-line encyclopedia, but it is an encyclopedia nontheless, and the article on Prince should live up to encyclopedic standards.
This includes providing references (there are way too many unsourced statements in the article) and maintining a neutral and balanced view. The article as it is now reads like something between a fan bio and promotional material, not an objective overview of Prince's life and music.

But I guess a Prince fan forum is the wrong place to point this out...
