Could Prince have pulled off Labyrinth?

One of my favorite movies is Labyrinth, I remember watching the behind the scenes and Jim Henson saying he wanted a contemporary figure to play Jareth the Goblin King. At first they considered MJ, then David Bowie...now in my opinion no one could play that part BUT Bowie...but they didn't consider P. And I got to thinking the film definately has some P inspiration, Bowie's outfit looks like something our boy would wear and Magic Dance to me sounds like a muppet Prince song...so what if Prince were in Labyrinth??? Maybe he would sing Erotic City to Sarah. Ha! Ha!

I love David Bowie in the roll...

David Bowie's name is "Jared," isn't it? The Goblin King.

Produced by the master of myth!...George Lucas. cool

That movie was fantastic. Bowie was an excellent choice because he did an amazing job pulling off both sexy and frightening/imposing. The accent was a plus.

I can't see P in that role because of his height (jennifer would have been taller) and because of his disarming charisma. It would have been creepy I think. Even with MJ it would have been weird because you wouldn't have been afraid of him. Jareth is a manipulator in the film, he's not sympathetic until the end when he wants Connely's character to let him rule over her and remain his companion.

Now I could see Prince as Jack in Legend. Anybody see that flick? It has Mia Sarah, Tom Cruise and Tim Curry in it. P could also play "Darkness".

Nobody but Bowie could have pulled off that role with the same panache--to be eerily seductive and completely creepy at the same time! Can you imagine Gene Simmons from Kiss in the same role?! He would just creep you out with his trollish lizard tongue and bring no sensuality to the role at all! razz lol

I agree with you. I think that Johnny Depp is good...but I do see Prince in that revision also.

The same goes the other way...I don't see Prince as a pirate nor as "Edward Scissorhands." cool
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
