It was huge in europe. Was it cutting edge or just fricking lazy... like "when 2 R in Love" to answer ur question..cutting edge. Not lazy, that type of video was quite expensive back in the day. very early CGI. And I guess the point was to make everyone read the lyrics. Good call if you ask me. "My God it's full of Stars"

The intro to this song and the song itself, is one of the best ones on the planet. I think it will always be a classic, like Purple Rain and other classics of certain artists. It's a song
A poem A story With a message. And it was a big hit, all over the world, not just the USA. This is one of his classics. A lot of what he sang about is still part of life now, todays generation can relate to Sign of the Times as we did back in the 80's [Edited 11/22/09 4:45am]

I really listen to it for the first time this morning while walking to school,I just love the intro. Is there a longer version? Was this song all over the radio? So have you seen the Sign of the Times concert movie? If not, this is a necessity!

The song did stir up alot of rumors where I live.
I was in highschool when it was released and on a local news cast that featured new music at the end. Told a story about P preparing to release a new album called "Aids" with numbered tracks like madhouse records. Many more crazy stories like this one, like P working with Bon Jovi on a new album. It was a fun time to be a Prince fan since the general public seemed to still be listening to the music. The NPG Vandals Rule!
