Opening Nighttown Jam

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the Opening Nighttown Jam 2002 mind melting or what? Or am I just hearing things?

You're right, it is. It's one of those jams that has you
laughing at 03:00 in, and then it just keeps going on &
on & on, making you go "god, this is amazing" with one of
those Cheshire Cat grins on your face.

Yes, I agree. It's fantastic! In fact, the whole show is. The opening jam sounds like something from either "Bitches Brew" or "Jack Johnson".

I've just recently managed to get a hold of the Nightown, Bataclan and London Aftershows and both of the opening jams in Paris and Nighttown are phenomenal!!!

The way that Renato plays those keys is superb and the guitar, what can I say!!!

Bambi is killer at Nightown though!!

I thought so - it's almost sounds better than being there (I guess It was so crowded). I like it more now, in fact I love it. Can't get enough of it.

Could some one please post a link to the site called www.prn-archive.com please as when I try to access it, it won't let me in to see the setlists for the previously mentioned aftershows!

Any help would be appreciated!

Thankyou!

OK time for a few questions. There were 2 shows in Rotterdam, correct??? I read that one show was awesome while the other show wasn`t. ALso I read that Prince was acting weird and just walked off at the end of one of the shows. Am I correct??? If so the which show is `Nighttown`? I can get either one but I only want one show. Finally could one of you guys who have the 'Nighttown' show post the tracklist??? Thanks.

PS. I see that the Japan shows from the ONA tour are starting to pop up on bootleg now. Hopefully the Vegas finale is coming soon!!!
My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

Ok - two concerts in Rotterdam on the same night. Nighttown was the later one. I can't say for the 1st one as I wasn't there but the 2nd one was definitely da bomb! Prince wasn't acting weird, he was just feeling the music BIG time that night. He ended the show by throwing his gutair, some symbols and his mike stand etc on the floor and if you don't know anything about REALLY feeling the gutair then yes it seemed weird. However, he wasn't in any strange mood at all. The even posted a note about it on NPGMC saying how Prince wasn't mad or anything! He was just overtaken by the music. . here is the track listing for Rotterdam, Nighttown.

Instrumental
Whole Lotta Love
Family Name
When u were mine
Bambi
The Question of U
The One/Fallin' - BREAK! omfg! (he must be getting old!)
I know U got Soul
1+1+1 is 3
Funky Stuff
Bustin' Loose Chant
Alphabet Street
Instru jam
Dolphin
Calhoun Sq
Beautiful Strange

Yeah, I'll never understand why people got so crazy about the ending of Nighttown.

That's ROCK N'ROLL, people! Beautiful Strange was the bomb... instead of saying "I love you, good night.", he just smashed the guitar! I would have loved to be there.

Well the set list seems kinda short, but you get a couple of rare gems (Beautiful Strange & Bambi). I see a bootleg purchase in my future. Shhh don`t tell Prince or he might pout!!!

The number of songs is indeed not large, but the songs themselves mostly were close to 10 minutes long.

Thanks Purplefab!

I've been listening to all three non-stop for 48 hours and I think that Nighttown is the best of the European Tour.

However all three are superb performances, in Nighttown he is just feelin the guitar so bad ... ... nod

music too funky!!! music
