The album was cool but the concerts/shows from that time were magnificent. Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Love the tour/aftershows..But Not my favorite album..I love I Wish U Heaven and When 2 R In Love. The other songs I could do without.. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

prince found God musicaly. he was probably in the best shape of his life. the music was exspiramental his band was thick the performances and the setlists were realy good. also the most fem part of his carear I don't think it was the most fem part of his career, Some would say it was the Prince-Dirty Mind years, some would say it was the Slave period, which I agree or whenever this was But I believe Prince is at his best when he is freely masc/fem I love the slave era...during the gold expirience it was realy fem...but during emancipation he seemed more masculine more than ever. with the over sized coats and sweaters...and the nit hats. i agree thAt prince is at his best when he tight walks that line for masc/fem. but for real lovesexy was probably his most feminine

Same here ernestsewell except I was so excited I can't recall much of it. He came in on the car and exited on it singing Alpahabet Street. Thank goodness for concert footage from other shows, and at least I'm not in the nosebleed section when I watch the boots!

If Prince was facing forward on the stage (there was a "front" of the stage, which put Sheila just behind him on stage right), then I was at about the 2 o'clock position. Apollonia was there that night. She tried to get under the stage to see Prince before the show, but they wouldn't let her in. (Hello, he wasn't under the stage before the show, they always walked out to the stage in the dark.) She was signing tour books, but I never went over to her.

Lovesexy was the first "new" P album I eagerly anticipated. I was a casual fan until after SOTT was released. I was in high school at the time Lovesexy was released. I asked my Mom to pick up a copy of the albu
at the mall while I was in school. I came home to discover that she bought it, but was embarrased by the album's cover art! I wish I could have seen the record store employee's reaction at my mother's request to by the album! (My mother turns 70 this weekend. Love ya Mom!)

Agreed I would have appreciated anything else at the time The continuous sequence didn't help either And I thought I was the only one!!!! "Morning will come and I'll do what's right...

Love Lovesexy too.
Fave track (believe it ornot) - Dance On!!!!! i think the general breakdown is that it bombed in the US and US fans hate it. It was huge in Europe and European fans love it. Aussies kinda fall in between, coz we're all so laid-back "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

In that moment mainstream audience taste was changing, from 80's pop to a more raw and alternative music, What was the people reaction at the concert? "I have so much love for Prince. But why don't they look at me that way"- MJ

Absolutely love it. Together with SOTT I think Lovesexy is his best album: Anna Stesia is perhaps his best song altogether but all other tracks are very good as well. I always have a sweet spot for Positivity. The album is a good example where the sum is more than the individual parts.
I also loved the tour. The show I attended in Rotterdam was fabulous. The medleys on this one are great: so well arranged and with such pace and energy. The Dortmund show never ceases to amaze me.

I’ve never liked the album too much. Most of the songs seem cluttered & half-written. The only time the album really works for me is the title track: it’s weird, rampages all over the place, and rocks pretty hard. If he’d made an album full of material like that he would have really had something unique, but nothing else comes close to touching it for me.
I saw the opening night of the US tour in Minneapolis. It may just have been a case of opening night rustiness, but it was an off show, especially the first half. The band was flat and the audience was absolutely anaesthetized for the most part. The second set was much better, and the PR hits were dependably exciting, but there’s no question I definitely caught the tour on a sluggish night. I wasn’t the only one who thought so either. I travelled to the gig as part of a tour group and the general consensus on the bus was that the show was a disappointment. [Edited 11/22/09 6:52am]

I love finding that album on old CD or digital jukeboxes where they only have it listed as "Lovesexy". Throw in a dollar and listen to the whole album... usually clears the bar too until there's just a few die-hard drinkers...
bonus points if you find it in a Country joint, the facial expressions are priceless!! A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon
