Prince obviously did not like this comment and as a result started playing the song more frequently. The live version, taken from the Beautiful Experience Concert(which by the way Tevin was in attendance 4) was sold (by ) 2 a Dutch radio station (along with other as yet unreleased songs like "Now", "Days of Wild" and "Acknowledge me"). This tape circulated and the live version of "Shhh" made its way 2 Radio in the USA in the summer of 1994. Shortly after this, Prince or actually, re-recorded it virtually live with the NPG and this is the version that ended up on The Gold Experience. Yes - Warner asked that ONE of these versions be included on "Come" but said no way because "Come" was a Prince record and "Shhh" was recorded by
P.S. Around the same time Lenny Kravits asked if HE could perform "Days of Wild" and responded "that would b like letting U make love 2 my woman!" - I guess that means no? i thought the making love 2 my woman quote was in referrence to john bon jovi asking prince if he could record an album with the revolution?

You could tell Prince was disappointed by the look on his face.(I was standing very close to the stage) Prince did the song anyway. It's my opinion that because it came off so well Prince went back and re-record it again for himself.
was that the valentines show in 1994? i don't recall prince calling tevin up to sing it

Because a 17 year-old shouldn't be singing the damn song.
Oh, and Cora shouldn't be drumming on it either. If it ain't Michael B., then Blackwell will suffice. If it ain't either of them, keep it in the vault. • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

He kind of did/tried to do the same thing with Nothing Compares 2 U, but Sinead O'Connor is pretty much forever associated with that song. Not in my household. That's the Family's song, dammit. • Did you first think Prince was gay? •

I'm sorry, but I'm not a big Bon Jovi fan, but I have to admit, if Bon Jovi did an album/tour with the Revolution as his backing band, that would be pretty fucking bad-ass!

It was actually a pretty huge song for Tevin that got tons of airplay , at least on Black radio. I like Tevins version better as well. I think Tevins police/tranny incedent was a bit after that song....

Tevin's version is dull and uninspired. He just isn't sexy enough to sound and look convincing when performing such a song, nor is his band.
