Rightly said: this craft is completely unknown to me.
But I did delete the dreadfull "the morning after". Such an annoying song I love that song. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

your kidding, right? the 26 minute version is amazing. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Back on the olden days of "Purple Rain", I used to make mixes and combine songs, using two turntables and my cassette deck. I did a good combination of the "Let's go Crazy" 12-inch and "Delirious", where "Delirious" started in the middle of "Let's Go Crazy", which resumed after "Delirious" ended.
I also started that one off by playing "LGC" on 2 turntables, with one just slightly behind the other, so the "Dearly beloved" part had this really cool echo. I also made an 8-minute version of "Take Me With U" that was absolutely perfect. Nowadays, you could do this in 30 seconds with "Garage Band" but back then it was trial-and-error, and it was really fun when you did it right.

I've been making my own edits since I was 10 with a tape recorder & pause button I use wave editing software on the PC now.
I've made my own 6:33 12" version of 'Hello' mixed from the 7" and the Extended verison (I also removed the "keyboard rollercoaster" at the beginning of the song - always hated that). I took 'Anotherloverholenyohead' 12" and switched the piano solo and the part that originally came after it, so that it matched the album version more, and just seemed like it continued after the album faded out. I made my own 6:20 'long version' of 'Mountains' from the album version, only because I didn't like what they did to the snare sound on the actual 12" One thing I wanted to do, is take the 12" of "I Would Die 4 U" and stick the 'Purple Rain' version in it instead (I like it better). They are slightly different tempos, and mixed differently (of course) so I have a feeling it won't sound very good. I know this is off-topic, but I also took Donna Summer's "On The Radio - Gratest Hits" and replaced the cut-up songs with their 'full' versions, keeping the segues (I LOVE that they did that!). That was a job. It took up 2 cds! (mostly because of 'Love To Love You Baby' and 'Try Me, I Know We Can Make It' - those are some LONG songs)

I've remixed TRC, ONA and The Vault in much the same way...as soon as the album starts I hit a little edit button on my machine labelled S.T.O.P ,I then take the CD out and, after putting a different CD in the player, I take one of the previously mentioned 3 CDs, put it back on the shelf and make a note on the system...."Don't be tempted to play again...it really IS as shit as you remember" [Edited 11/23/09 7:37am]

Cut out the rap from Daisy Chain and cut off the baby crying at the end of one of the Xpectation tracks.
Other than that, made an ultimate Gold Experience disc that includes Interactive, Ripopgodazippa, Acknowledge Me and Days Of Wild.
