I wanted to like it as I like most of Prince's work but it's one of the 2 songs I despise of the 2 discs.... I don't count Bria's album b/c I never listen to it.... Once was more than enough. I will say this about the song, I like the beat, but that's it, the rest of it is rubbish to me(sadly) sad

I like it. Prefer it to Chocolate Box, which seems to get a lot more love around here.

Awful.
Bland, insipid, repetitive and 4 minutes too long. Oh, and wouldn't sound out of place on Newpower Soul.

1/10 purely for the guitar solo towards the end.

It is a bit cold and bland. When I first listened to the CD, I knew that song, and "Chocolate Box" were too long. I adjusted the End Time on both in iTunes, and the flow of the album was a bit better. There's a definite "pause" in both songs, about 4:45 in (roughly that time), where it could end, but Prince keeps going, and it becomes old and repetitive and old and repetitive and old and repetitive. Ending them before the 5 minute mark made it a bit better.

ROFLMAO!!!!! Best song? Good ol' days of what? Musicology? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Man, you've not heard a lot of GOOD Prince music, methinks, if you think "Never B Another" is the best on that set.

God knows I'm not a fan of any of the 3 CDs but even I can acknowledge better songs on the set than THAT one.

I listen to this so rarely - it makes me cringe. I am a fan of MPLSound but I just go straight to Chocolate Box.

Laugh if you want. IMO it's the best song on that set. I've been listening to Prince since 1979. Me think that qualifies as hearing alot of good Prince songs.
If you think sappy songs like Crimsom and Clover, Colonized Mind, and Valentina
are goods songs then neutral that's your opinion as well. I guess it's different strokes for different folks.

For 20 years, I longed for a great "WHOOOOO" to open a song the way it did on the song New Power Generation, and then Prince answered my prayers with this masterpiece.

Don't project. I never mentioned ANY song that's better than the bland and boring "Never B Another".

Why you laughing trying to belittle him?

I don't agree but, in no way do i find it funny.

Your someone who thinks Make Me by "Janet" is amazing....and Madonna, and yet call this bland and boring...

YOU are the one to laugh at.

Your "365 days project" provides enough laughs.

First off, I wasn't belittling anyone. The IDEA that the song is the best he's done in years, and/or hearkens back to the old days is funny to me. The person is more than an opinion on a song, even a Prince song, so don't get all butthurt about it. Makes you look like a pussy. I have a right to find something amusing. So you can remove the "personal" side of your lame argument, because it wasn't an attack. However, the following might be:

You trying to attack me by attacking Janet freakin' Jackson, is also as funny. It's like attacking Judge Judy to try and get back at Dan Quayle. Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? I never said "Make Me" was "amazing", I said I liked it, and the conversation turned to Jerkins' production themes, and him mainly NOT using samples in his music, although he did use a sample in "Make Me". No clue about why you'd bring Madonna into this, but okay. Maybe you can "get back" at Matthew Broderick by attacking Madonna, who knows. That sort of thing seems to work for you. Randomness, et al.

Then you take it to a lower level by attacking my 365 project, which apparently you are interested enough in to view daily. Of course I'm grateful for all my avid fans, including yourself (don't protest too much, cuz you know.....you know), or at least pretend you do in order to try and make fun of it.

Of course coming from someone with the name "WetDream", maybe I should have just considered the source. Don't be a fool next time, I don't want to have to make you look silly again in a public place.

i am also a fan of this song...i wasn't at first. But I like the fact that it is long...it gives you time to get into the groove. Its kinda like when I hear fans dog the 1999 album because they think some of its songs go on too long. I'm like, "what"? to me it's like Prince is giving the songs room to breathe and jam out a little.

By the way, I like the part in the song where he tells the girl, "so what, your thicker than before? That's alright...I like 'em healthy, baby". That part is sooooo Prince.

I agree! I heart this song!

I also agree. Reminds me so much of New Power Generation & I love that song. IMO it is the perfect opening 2 his best album since The Gold Experience. It is P at his bravvado best. Why do we have 2 pull each other apart 4 liking different songs? P`s music is massively varied & eclectic so why is it strange that we differ so much??
