Work It vs. The Work

So, I know the contents and quality of The Work is well documented, but what about Work It by comparison? Isn't it mostly/completely the same content and quality? Work It was intended to be free too, correct? Anyone want to enlighten me?

work it 2.0 is supposed to be the best quality sources avaliable. i.e. flac

where-as the work is in mp3, converted from .wav masters

besides that, the work has more material than work it.

A FLAC is just a WAV in a container. The question is, are the "sources" directly from the cassette or CDS they are found on, and was there NEVER any compression from point A to point B. Some of those songs that have leaked out are only going to sound good to a certain point, regardless of the source. Tapes get old, some stuff is just a bad copy to begin with.

yes i know that. work it 2.0 the blurb reads:

The whole Work it 2.0 comes in 5 DVDs with the Flac files, so this set has never been Burned & Ripped.

The term "updated" means every song is updated with the BEST quality outtake at the moment.

And ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE with Outtakes & Alternate Takes in FLAC

The work is in mp3, probably copied from a variety of sources. Richard has made the work EE which is the original wav from his masters.

I downloaded the entire Work It 2.0 set in Flac. It's tracks are supposed to be culled from the best sources available. I have the old The Work CD set too, but better sources have since been found. The hard part is finding a lossless version of The Work. The Work EE is only appearing in teaser form right now as far as I know.

Start with Work It 2.0 and if you get lucky, download The Work in lossless if you can find it.

By the way, WAVs are a container(or shell) as well - but not compressed like Flac, so WAV quality can vary as much as mp3s. In a perfect world, people would not convert lossys to Flac and WAV, but they do.

WAV and Wave are both abbreviations for a Windows Waveform audio file. WAV just happens to be the 3 character extension. And yes, Flac is a lossless codec, but a lossy mp3 or wma can be converted to Flac or WAV - and often is.
