A favor? So every artist Tom supports, should do a free concert for Tom or Tom should pay them at a lower fee just because he chose to support an artist's music? If Tom Joyner can't afford to pay certain artists, then don't ask them to perform. You say Prince has a problem working for Black promoters in the concert field? I don't think that's true. If you read some of the posts from other orgers here, they stated he asked a lot more than $1 mil from other promoters Secondly, earlier this year, Prince did a concert in LA, after the State of the Black Union Conference, in which Tavis Smiley announced Prince agreed to do at his request, so trying to pull the "brotha" thing isn't going to work. Business is business. If he did favors all the time, and no money exchanged for his performance, then he'd be broke with no money to pay band members or travelling expenses. [Edited 11/19/09 10:24am] Well if what you are saying is true, it would be very sad to know that he doesn't treat Black DJs very nice, if in fact that is true, but I still don't think one mil, is asking too much to be paid to perform, if in fact it is true that TJ is actually in negotations with him to perform on the cruise. I think we should just wait and see it this is true. First, I would like to ask if you are in that part of the industry, where you have evidence to provide or first hand information to prove by your statement? Also, mixing friendship with business is not always a good thing. Not to mention, I'm sure he's changed management teams over the years. As far as Pop radio and r&b stations, they still play his music from the 80s/90s era, although not really current material. [Edited 11/19/09 16:29pm]

Tell Tom Joyner that if Prince is out of his price range then I hear that Joe is available.
"I hear he got you on lockdown, but I got the master key!" When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

[Edited 11/19/09 16:29pm] ----- Well I remember P being on Tom Joyner show and Steve Harvey when he was promoting Musicology and P and Steve seemed to get along really well. Tom was a major ass during his interview but I would think if he really had a beef with black radio it might be that they don't play a lot of his new stuff but always want to use his concerts to promote their stations. So maybe what goes around comes around.

So maybe what goes around comes around. I remember listening to one of the NYC stations in 2004 on my way to work between 7:30 am and 8:00am; now I can't remember if it was WBLS, but it might have been, when Prince was being interviewed by the radio personalities there over the phone in NYC, about a day or two before the MSG concert in NYC, and the interview was very cordial. The interview went well, and all were happy. Not sure if Tom Joynor was on that program at that time. Now I know for a fact that they do play his classic stuff, like "Adore", "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "When Doves Cry", etc., on both 98.7kissfm and WBLS, but the current songs, no, I have to say they don't, which is a shame, because they do play plenty of his classic material, so I can't understand why they don't play his current music. I was kind of surprised that tracks from the 3121 album like "Incense and Candles" and "Love" were not played on the R&B stations, when that album was out. Even "Future Baby Mama" from the Planet Earth station, wasn't played on there. Now I do remember when 3121 first came out, didn't Tom play the entire album on his station or was it Michael Baisden? Can't remmber which, but I know the full cd was played on on of their stations, the first and second week it was out.I have to say though, that I constantly here Prince classics played on the radio, whenever I enter a store in the mall and other places, and they have their radio playing, WKTU in NY, a Pop station, doesn't seem to miss a day playing Prince's classics. I think our insider is making accusations based on a few disgruntled DJ and not all. In addtion, if black radio is not going to support the new stuff why should P give them interviews and free tickets much less lower his fees specificaly for black promoters. I honestly think that if some orgers were running things for P he would be broke as hell. (LOL)
