This cruise is to benefit the Tom Joyner Foundation;
The Tom Joyner Foundation only does one thing.it helps students continue their education at Black colleges. All too often a student will get into college, then encounter financial difficulties that will force them to drop out. The Foundation provides money directly to the Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for the purpose of helping these students complete their education.

$ 1.000.000 does not sound so love4oneanother, knowing this. Unless he donates his fee to the foundation ofcourse.

Good cause or not, Tom Joyner's creating buzz and selling tickets to gullible listeners with the "we're negotiating with [Prince, Sade, etc.]" routine,
knowing full well that he's only gonna book 2/3 of The Gap Band and one of The Four Tops. disbelief

NONSENSE

I heard this yesterday and thought about creating a post. Tom Joyner is a huge fam. With that said, Prince wouldn't sneeze for a $1 million. One million is pennies to Prince. It was nice for Prince to low ball his fee for TJS.

I Wanna Go...I know "The Time," went....I used to listen to Tom Joyner and Sybil every morning...I can get Kissfm out of NC...but it's very static.

Love those guys...I tried to win tickets several years. Never did. cool

So true. The TJMS is a really big thing in the black community. Tom Joyner was voted one the most powerful people in America.

prince always wants to play hard ball when a black person ask him to perform a show for him... i would known.. good luck to tom joyner on that.

I don't think being black has anything to do with it. Prince has a set fee he charges and that's it. Color has nothing to do with it.

Didn't P get paid $3 million for Coachella? If so, $1 million is a good rate.

being black had everything to do with it.prince has a problem working with black promoters in the concert promotion business.he charges black promotors more money than white promoters do. considering that tom joyner was very supportive in his career when his records came out you would think he can do tom joyner a favor, guess not.

I agree. I think a million dollars for an Academy Award Winner, Golden Globe Winner, 6 time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee is a fair price.

A favor? So every artist Tom supports, should do a free concert for Tom or Tom should pay them at a lower fee just because he chose to support an artist's music? If Tom Joyner can't afford to pay certain artists, then don't ask them to perform. You say Prince has a problem working for Black promoters in the concert field? I don't think that's true. If you read some of the posts from other orgers here, they stated he asked a lot more than $1 mil from other promoters.

Secondly, earlier this year, Prince did a concert in LA, after the State of the Black Union Conference, in which Tavis Smiley announced Prince agreed to do at his request, so trying to pull the "brotha" thing isn't going to work. Business is business. If he did favors all the time, and no money exchanged for his performance, then he'd be broke with no money to pay band members or travelling expenses.

My two cents - A "Prince" cruise would be awesome! I think he could make bank

on something like this. Fans have always talked about pooling their money

together for an exclusive concert. Why not try and get a cruise thing going?

It's working for Rick Sprinfield, Dave Koz and others.

Where are u?

In a place that has one radio station that would air the Tom Joyner Morning Show. Furthermore, I rarely listen to that station anymore, except for my once a month venture to the Michael Basden show.
