Bootleg Questions: SaTim's 1987, 1986 & Camille

Wondering if anyone has heard these. How is the quality overall? I'd love a review. Also, was there ever a SaTim version of Dream Factory or was that just in the planning stages?

They are the best sounding sources of those songs out there. 1986 has a good portion of Dream Factory songs if I remember correctly.

Quality on these releases are outstanding. I'm not a huge Camille fan, but you probably won't find better sounding sources of the songs than on these boots. SaTim did release Dream Factory. I have the Sabotage copy of Dream Factory Remastered and it is incredible - did Sabotage use SaTim's CD as their source? Maybe, since the tracks are the same.

The Databank review of SaTim's Camille:

1. Rebirth Of The Flesh 2. Housequake 3. Strange Relationship 4. Feel U Up 5. Shockadelica 6. Good Love 7. If I Was Your Girlfriend 8. Rockhard In A Funky Place

COMMENT

Very cool idea for a release. This the album as it was sequenced on November 5th 1986. 'Rebirth Of The Flesh' is the only track here which is still criminally unreleased - although the NPG Music Club did make available a rehearsal version. 'Feel U Up' is the Long Stroke version, 'Shockadelica' is the extended version, as is 'Good Love'.

The Databank review of fan made Camille:

1. Rebirth Of The Flesh 2. Housequake 3. Strange Relationship 4. Feel U Up 5. Shockadelica 6. Good Love 7. If I Was Your Girlfriend 8. Rockhard In A Funky Place

COMMENT

There are various fan releases of the unreleased 1986 'Camille' album. This track listing is the sequenced album version dating from 5th November 1986. 'Feel U Up' is the extended Long Stroke version, 'Shockadelica' is the extended version, as is 'Good Love'. There are various different artworks to go with the releases - I have simply listed my personal favourite above.

The Databank track listing of SaTim's Dream Factory:

1. Visions 2. Nevaeh Ni Ecalp A 3. Dream Factory 4. Train 5. The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker 6. It 7. Strange Relationship 8. Slow Love 9. Starfish And Coffee 10. Interlude 11. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man 12. Sign O' The Times 13. Crystal Ball 14. A Place In Heaven 15. Last Heart 16. Witness 4 The Prosecution 17. Movie Star 18. The Cross 19. All My Dreams

The Databank review of Sabotage's Dream Factory Remastered:

1. Visions 2. Nevaeh Ni Ecalp A 3. Dream Factory 4. Train 5. The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker 6. It 7. Strange Relationship 8. Slow Love 9. Starfish And Coffee 10. Interlude 11. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man 12. Sign O' The Times 13. Crystal Ball 14. A Place In Heaven 15. Last Heart 16. Witness 4 The Prosecution 17. Movie Star 18. The Cross 19. All My Dreams

COMMENT

An absolutely fantastic release. This configuration was sequenced sometime between June and July 1986 - although it is not the final configuration. I can only imagine what would have happened had this actually been released, as it is Prince and the Revolution at their most creative and at their imaginative peak. Firstly, you have to remember that Sign O' The Times (the album) hadn't been released or thought about yet, so the forget how the tracks sound on the Sign O' The Times album. Visions is a beautiful solo piano piece by Lisa, Nevaeh Ni Ecalp A (A Place In Heaven backwards) is simply an intro to Dream Factory. Train is an absolutely amazing song and it's a crime it hasn't been released. Interlude is Wendy's guitar solo piece. Strange Relationship is the 'Revolution' version. I Could Never Take The Place is slightly extended during the guitar portion of the song. A Place In Heaven is Lisa's vocal. And finally 'All My Dreams' - surely if there's one song that sums up Prince, Wendy & Lisa's work together at it's most inspirational, imaginative and most clever - it's that. The material was obviously too good to shelve after the Revolution disbanded, so it's understandable he chose to use some tracks on S.O.T.T. An absolute must have album for any Prince fan. The packaging for this disc is brilliant. The booklet includes a nice 'story of the Dream Factory', taken from The Vault. Sheer class.

plus in some cases, a few songs have come out in better quality now. Although some of those more recent clear versions are vocal mixes that Prince used to just listen to his own vocal quality, and are not as good of mixes as some of those more "blurry" mixes where the instruments are louder and sometimes more complete.

Dream Factory is probably my favourite of all the boots out there. i know most of it has been released now but as a whole it's just fucking brilliant, how different would our life be if this had have come out.
No Housequake, Play In The Sunshine, Adore, Forever In My Life, but we'd have Train, All In My Dreams and the jewel from this album Witness For The Prosecution, that has to be released at some point, that jam is too good.

Thanks for the rundown guys! As for mixes Prince did to listen to his vocals in the mix, I'd love to hear those. Can anyone give an example of some of those tracks?

Personally, of all the unreleased tracks, I would love crystal clear copies of the complete Computer Blue and Wonderful Ass. Just awesome stuff!

The best sounding long version of Computer Blue that I've heard is on the Foefur "Remaster" of Purple Rain. In fact, the whole CD set is unbelievable. The alternate take of The Beautiful Ones is to die for.

There are crystal clear versions of Witness 4 The Prosecution and Wonderful Ass on a certain boot, but I don't think it's circulating yet.

Gotta know about that boot when it's circulating, that's for sure! As for the version of Computer Blue, that is an incredibly high quality recording, but it's not the complete version. A crystal clear copy of the version with the hallway speech is what I'm talking about! Shoulda been a single!
