sooooo...if you buy songs from the Itunes store, you get art work which appears on your video window of your Ipod Nano Shuffle. I have "The Work" on my ipod, and yet I didn't get it through the ITunes store.....how so?

Also if you have the artwork for an album you can drag it onto your iTunes when the tracks are playing. Takes a bit of time but it works. I created covers for a lot of my Prince boots from my favorite pictures of him over the years.

It's finding the closest thing possible based on the ID3 tag. I never let iTunes get other artwork for me. It's just as easy to images.google.com it up and drag the picture to the iTunes window (Right click a song or an album, and drag the picture to the Artwork window), and OK. Done.

It's probably using jpgs (eg. folder.jpg, small.jpg) that are in the folder where your mp3s are.

sounds like a possible idl, a lot of those have pre-selected art. is it the art from the cover of the album?
