Musiq Soulchild, Maxwell, & Prince

I just heard on my local radio station. "The ultimate concert would be Musiq Soulchild, Maxwell & Prince. He also said the station was trying to make it happen (half serious? joking? not sure) Anyways he then play songs by each artist. Do you think this would be a good concert line up? Who would you add or subtract?

I think it sounds awful, neither one of those guys are near the same caliber of an artist that Prince is, but that's just me.

Well, it's not that awful but it could use some improvement. Maybe Lenny Kravitz, Ben Harper or Herbie Hancock

interesting line up, but theres something not quite right about it, Musiq and Maxwell lean more neo-soul and Prince is way more funkier

maybe Maxwell open, Lenny and Prince

Prince and Musiq already did shows together during the ONA tour. He'd pop up at some of the after party shows and they'd perform together. I'm not even sure if Maxwell and Prince know each other personally. i've never seen them at the same event.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Prince name checked him in "Old School Company" so he must dig him a little. I would Drop Musiq and add say, Ceelo(sp?), then Maxwell & Prince. But really a shutdown barn burner would be Prince and Lenny.

That sounds horrible. That would be like having a Rick James concert that included Johnny Mathis, Barry Manilow, and Lionel Richie. You just don't put funk on the same stage with weak artists.

Those 2 are boring, and galaxies away from Prince and his musical abilities/talent. Who in their right mind would look at the body of work; the songwriting; the ability to play instruments, the crowd, and the media... and then come to the conclusion that those 2 belong on the same bill as P? P dominated a whole decade, those 2 can't even hold down 1 year. Even moving beyond the music, just to overall image, P is in whole other league- the clothes, the musical changes, the affect his chosen songs, interviews, movies, and public presentation has had in public debate- the other 2 they have no public affect!

Where do you live?

Would be o.k., but that's probably one-to-two, many artists.

Harper and Kravitz are about the same musical league as Soulchild and Maxwell. All of them just rehash the 1970's (whether it's psychodelic rock or soul) and Herbie outclasses them all (by a large margin).

Ain't nothing weak about Maxwell!
His band is super tight!
Just ask anyone who went to his recent gigs (me included).

And yeah, Maxwell was at some of P's LA 'house'parties. (which is why he gets the 'Ol School Company' name check.)

Boring one-trick pony (and it isn't an interesting trick, not is it even an original trick).

He's too damn mellow...in other words "dull". Prince is hard funk/rock. I've never heard anything from Maxwell that wasn't slow to midtempo adult contemporary type R&B. I can see why Prince was sent to open for someone like Rick James back in the day because the two of them were the hardest things in R&B music at the time. I can also see Prince's own groups like The Time opening for him because once again, another group just as hard and funky as he was. But as far as someone like Maxwell goes, hell Lionel Richie would be a better choice. At least he could throw in some the hard Commodores jams. I love some music by The Carpenters also but I wouldn't want to see them open for KISS either. The two just don't go together.

I love yummy Maxwell and musiq but not on the same stage as Prince. It does not compute. Prince doesnt need any fluffers, all he needs iz a mic, a guitar, a piano and a stage. Everyone is as happy as a clam. grouphug Why mess that up people? confused
