Dez comments Prince's guitar playing in his book?

orgers who have read Dez Dickerson"My Time with Prince" please share some insights from the book.
Any interesting guitar related stories?

It's a good read. As he says at the outset, it's not researched, it doesn't rely on interviewing others, it isn't an expose - it's just his memory.

In terms of guitar stories, I think the very first story is the most telling.

Dez recollects his audition for Prince, with Andre and Bobby. Prince plays keyboards and Andre and Booby join in. Dez listens and then joins in on rhythm. Then, after a while. Prince signals to Dez to take a solo. But rather than try to play to impress, Dez remembers that 'less is more' ... and he gets the gig.

And it would have been WAAAAAY better if he'd had involved someone like Per Nilsen, to help him remember things.
