This could have been... Cats Meow vs Rainbow Children, and Rainbow children would still lose. It was the Jackson Pollack painting of music. Just a bunch of experimental mess. The only thing that it has to offer that keeps your ears from falling completely off is "1+1+1 is 3", & "Family name". HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Album! Prince has to be loaded, because he had to know that album was gonna royally bomb! And it did! Even the timing of its release was a complete disaster! "What?! This is your first commercial release since changing your name back to Prince? Youre kidding right? For gods sake...Go back to calling yourself if this what we have to look forward to!"

My vote goes to Lovesexy.
Glam Slam & When 2 R In Love are two tracks that I can still listen to every now and then.

NONSENSE said: thebanishedone said: Lovesexy is a spiritual trip of a man who tries to find,
what suits him the best while The Rainbow Children album is about a man who is sure that he knows the best. the work pt 1 is no weak link. It's definitely one of my fav's from the CD. If a man is sure to know wat's best, why be dictated by the JW! He was closer to god during Lovesexy, at least more convinced about it! And ain't that what religion is all about? Rainbow was thought provoking alright... for all the wrong reasons. I agree - and apart from the message, the songs are just bland tunes covered in jazz complexity - we get his spritual message, we get that he is a talented musician - but his songwriting is lazy and boring on it - with the exception of she loves me for me which doesnt actually fit on that album. Lovesexy had good songs, good songwriting, catchy tunes and less tedious to listen to.

I don't find Prince very 'deep', but I found Lovesexy quite stirring at the time. I love TRC but as I've said many times, not for its lyrical content.
Lovesexy felt very positive at the time with a broad-minded healthy attitude to sex, love and spirituality, TRC is too dogmatic for me to get into in any way, but musically I prefer it to Lovesexy and listen to it more.
