What Prince song caused you to have a "I need to reevaluate my life" moment?

What Prince song stopped to make you think about your decisions or the state of your life?

I know that sounds a bit dramatic but let me explain...

The song that made me drop everything and reevaluate the state of my life was "The Holy River." Around the time, I was debating whether I could financially "make it" out on my own. I knew I needed to move out of my parents' house (because they were/are extremely overprotective and can make you feel 16 even though I'm educated and in my late twenties), but I didn't believe I could do it because they told me I couldn't...

Soon, I began to feel hopeless and helpless... and wondered if my parents were capable of ever treating me like an adult and whether I was even worthy of being treated as one.

Then one day, on a road trip, the song "The Holy River" came on my ipod...and I burst into tears. It was the first time I heard it and at that moment, I was forced to listen to the truth...

I don't know if it was the sense of urgency in the song or the sheer audacity of hope it inspired in me, but at that moment, I knew that I could make it out on my own, and I'm proud to say, I'll be moving out in January smile

To this day, I still can't listen to that song without taking a few moments to evaluate the state of my life and to say thank you for the strength it inspired in me to make a decision in spite of my parents disapproval.

Has anyone had a similar, "I need to reevaluate my life" moment listening to Prince?

"The Holy River," is a beautiful song. So many Prince songs through the years have had an emotionally moving effect on me.

The Love Songs, The Philosophy...Prince has been a heart teacher...With songs like, "Paisley Park," "The Ladder," "Controversy," And with Divine loving songs like..."Still will Stand All Time," "Elephants & Flowers," and "Everywhere."

I reevaluate my life daily...I try to make sure that I am stepping lightly through my life now that I have learned about myself.

"La La La means I Love U." Prince sings so beautifully, and everytime I play that song, all I feel is..."Right Back At U Handsome." That's it. cool

When I bought The Rainbow Children, I started to rethink how much money I was going to chose to spend on Prince.

Dark angel,,
Wow.. i have soo many!!
Spiritually bringing me 2 allways remember GOD!
Time and time again...
He will allways bring the emotion out of me..

Some songs like "somewhere here on Earth" is both meloncoly and assuring to me..
He allways has me craving and wanting.
Wheather it is a better relationship with God..or Remembering what love should be..
Holy River is beautiful..a beautiful peice..there is nothing more beautiful than the notion of 2 people in love under the blessing of God.

Don't Play me, reminds me that all who say that they are your friends, really arent. basically , im not that type of stereo ..lmao..Sometimes your better off by yourself..

Off the new album, it definatley is "Here"
It shows this phenominal fragile and vulnerable side of Prince..i think he is tired of L.A..even though he dresses the Part.i can still see Prince kickin it old school back in Minneapolis..

It Has me reevaluate the substance a real relationship has to offer. sometimes its best 2 wait for that right one.. and just "trust the ride"..Do it the right wway.. instead of Right away...lmao..but thank u Dark Agel for such a nice thread!!! hug
Marry me 2day and 2night we'll make love until the world stops turning

sweething

The 3121 CD certainly had a spiritual and emotoinal effect on me. It prepared me for what would become the most challenging time of my life, thus far; the messages contained in The Word and Beautiful, Love & Blessed, for example, were not only instructional but comforting and helped to strengthen me during those difficult times. Additionally, those two songs in particular reminded me of God's graces and helped me to perservere.

Other songs like satisfied, fury and the dance helped me stay physically balanced and mentally strong.

Thank you, Prince.

Actually, when I 1st became a fan of P's art and when the Oprah interview came out I sat back and thought about life and what I chose to "do" with my life. I actually changed my thought process to some degree and started looking for a REAL relationship. I was looking for a spiritual connection with a partner and love interest and was praying to meet someone who had similar "spiritual" interest as I did/do. Emancipation was on heavy rotation back then too.

cool

This song helped me to wake up!! lol

Anyway wont go into details but since hearing this song all those years agoo I've never found myself in a similar situation. It helped me realise I was wasting my time wink

Time Waits For No One

U came 2 me
Said give U more time
Time 2 get yourself 2gether
Time 2 make up your mind
I want 4ever love
U want a one night fantasy
While I'm sittin' here waitin' on U
U know somebody somewhere's waitin' on me

Time waits 4 no one
Time don't wait 4 nobody, nobody
And time waits 4 no one
If U wait 2 long
U can turn around and I'll be gone, gone, gone

(Time, time, time)

I just can't sit around
Watchin' my life pass me by
So if U're ever gonna make a change
Better be right now, right now, right now!

I don't know if anybody ever told U, boy
But impatience is my middle name (My middle name)
So if my good, good… good lovin' means anything 2 U, babe
U better stop runnin' your game

Time waits 4 no one (No one)
Time don't wait 4 nobody, nobody
Time waits 4 no one (No one)
If U wait 2 long
U turn around and I'll be gone, gone, gone

U came 2 me
U said give U more time
But baby, baby, I could see through U
Even if I were deaf, dumb and blind

Time waits 4 no one (No one)
Time don't wait 4 nobody, nobody
(Time) Time waits 4 no one
So if U wait 2 long (2 long)
U turn around and I'll be gone, gone, gone

(Time, time, time) Waits 4 no one
Don't wait 4 no one
Nobody, nobody
No, nobody

Time waits 4 no one
Time don't wait 4 nobody, nobody {fade out}
Time, time, time waits 4 no one
One minute they want peace……

Then do everything to make it go away. rolleyes
