Could this be the most exciting Prince news EV-ER? Actually this could be the worst Prince news EV-ER, but tonight I bought myself an Archos jukebox 20 gig mp3 player/recorder. It's seems to be a pretty good alternative to the much more expensive Apple Ipod.
Anyway while I was reading the directions trying to figure out how the thing works I came across this quote: Archos user guide says: ...Press BACK button to go to root directory. For example if you want to input new artist name PRINCE, Click on P followed by play/puse button...
It was almost if the mp3 player knew that there would be a lot of Prince music being placed into it Like I said worst news EV-ER although I'm sure someone will say something like, "It's great to see Prince finally being recognized by the mp3 player company"

Hey LoveMachine:
What's the specs on this little gadget? Where you buy, apx price etc. I'm always into to small gadget like this and was considering the IPod, but it's a little out of my price range. I take it you're able to download from the net with no problems right? Any info would be helpful. Thanks **************************************************

I HIGHLY recommend going here and getting the Rockbox firmware for your Archos.
http://rockbox.haxx.se/ This was a firmware developed by quite a few different people in the Archos user community. It has quite a few features not available on the Archos firmware. Give it a try... [This message was edited Sat Jan 11 9:06:26 PST 2003 by Electric2k]

One allows you to record and the other just plays mp3's and acts as storage. They are both 20 gig in size. http://www.bestbuy.com/de...mp=IL13542 This one is on sale for $200 which is a hell of deal for a 20 gig player IMO. http://www.bestbuy.com/De...e=11101124 This one allows you to record mp3s directly into the player and is on sale now for $229 after rebate. The player seems pretty well put together and easy to navigate and easy to load the mp3's onto it. I've only had it a day, but I would recommend it. . I wouldn't waste my money on an mp3 player. Try a mini disc player instead. Not only can you record up to 4 hours of music on 1 disc, cd quality, but the discs are rewritable. Also, you can record from a whole lot of sources. For example, I video taped a friend's gig and then recorded it to mini disc connecting the player straight to my camcorder and played back the show for him on the drive home from the same gig. There's so much more you can do with these things, I can't even begin to tell you. Check them out if you get a chance. You'll be very impressed.

4 hours? I have 20 gig to play with do you know how much music that is. Plus these mp3 player act as harddrives meaning that you can trasnport other kinds of files back and forth between work and home or whatever. BTW the mp3 player I bought also allows you to digitally record anything directly into the player with complete ease. Click on the second link. Although with the memory size I have I can certainly record longer shows without switching out discs. Mini-discs are fine, but I do believe that portable harddrive mp3 players are probably the future that is until they learn how to increase the memory of the non-moving memory sticks. The only MP3 Player worth having is the "Power 2 the people of M-P-L-S! (and Mac Addicts) 'nuff said. "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.
