Need advice on making a Prince Cd

Does anybody have any track lists that they have compiled? I am specifically trying to exclude any well known hits and make a cd that shows a diverse range of Prince styles. The problem I have is that I end up including too many ballads and find it nearly impossible to keep the number of tracks down to 15/16 ish! Any ideas?

Your task is probably impossible to advise on. Prince has released way too many songs for anyone to say, "Here are 15-16 non-hits that fully represent Prince's spectrum".

Just choose what you like best. That will be as good a list as anyone else could make.

I agree with Rodeo. It's impossible. Here's what you do. Find one song that you like, off any album. Make the next song the total opposite.

Example: Start off with "Let's Go Crazy". That's a full on rock song. Make the next one a funk song, like "DMSR". Then go pop with something like "Take Me With U" (which also covers the duet profile), or "Strange Relationship". Then go with a ballad, like "Adore". Go back to a full on R&B song like "1999" or "Let's Work". Then go back to a rock song, like "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man", or "Endorphinmachine".

Keep up that formula until you've filled your CD.

Cheers for the response folks. I know that it is impossible to cover the complete range, but I think ernestsewell's suggestion is a good tactic. I'm going to give that a try. Also, cheers for the lists TrevorAyer and Tame, although I have to admit, I prefer Tame's personally (Sorry Trevor!).

Any other lists are welcome smile
