I'm not really in a YouTube mood-is it the same as Quincy's song?

All i can say is that the Johnsons were some bad motherfuckers and I'll Be... is one of their classic jamz. Really nice tune.
On the other hand, TMBGIW is definitely the worst piece of crap Prince has EVER laid a hand on... And NONONONONONONONONONONONONONO, there is not even a millisecond of a similarity..

I can see where someone could hear a second's worth of similarity, but overall, no. And TMBGITW is one of Prince's best ballads 8 or 10 years to that point.

I wouldn't say the worst but it's definitely not one of my faves @ all. In fact to me it's aweful in TGE album but whatever. I actually like some of the mixes of it but the falsetto & the music just doesn't hit me like the rest of that phenomenal album does. I'm glad he had success w/ it but the album version I thought sucked a bug zick..

Not sure of Quincy's version. This is by Brother's Johnson. I only know of 1 version and they did work with Quincy. maybe this is the same song. And the opening notes of both songs are the same or very similar chords/notes. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

He still had that swagger and swing in his voice and sing. I like this version... and I don't ever remember hearing this one before. The Ray/Chaka version was all over the radio when Q came out with that album. Tevin Campbell was on it as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/w..._the_Block

Dooinit (Acapella Party by the Human Bean Band)". There's a TON of people on this record from Prince, Herbie Hancock, Glen Ballard, Sheila, Kool Moe D, Melle Mel, Al B. Sure!, .....the list runs on and on. I found this for reference of guests: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...k#Overview

Yes, Prince was not on the album (I don't think Quincy and him are very fond of each others...), it was Ian Prince. "open your heart, open your mind

There's no evidence to support that. Prince and Quincy met at least 2 or 3 times, talked, and Q even allowed Prince to contribute a song to the We Are The World album. I can't imagine Q being nasty w/ anyone in the business. He loves musicians, and their quirkiness, and knows how to pull it out of them and work it.

I have an interview of Q for a french magazine from the 80's (I think) in which he seems not particularly in love with our man, I'll try to put my hand on it. Plus, I do remember when Prince was in a group of people who were singing "We are the world" in a tv show, (the 90's), and he didn't want to sing, it was obvious as he was in front, Q handed him the mike (to make him sing) and Prince replied by handing his lollipop to Q, not exactly a love story... It's a pity as I enjoy both of them... "open your heart, open your mind

Excuse in advance my poor translation... It's from a french magazine called Best.During the Bad tour era : Journalist :- You have one of the widest knowledge of the contemporary music, from an artistic point of view, can you compare Prince and Michael ? Quincy :- No, that's very difficult. J -Many people say that Prince is more adventurous, that he has a more innovator side... Q- Michael can also be very progressive. A song like "Baby be mine" is close to John Coltrane, with a mix of jazz, rhythm and blues...I believe Michael to be more melodious than Prince. Prince emphasises more on the rhythmic combinations and is maybe more risky on the emotionnal level, in particular when he's talking about sex, we know that Michael would never think of doing something like that. J- There is nevertheless a big difference : Prince produces his albums alone. Q- So what ? Why is it important ? Frankly, does the audience gives a shit about the producer ? J- I think that Michael's career would have been different if you, the producer, hadn't think of giving the guitar solo on "Beat it" to Eddie Van Halen. I consider this as one of the cleverest "coup" in history. It's this detail that gave him his legitimacy to the rock audience. Q- Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to underestimate my credits. But only the results are importants and they will always be. Would the destiny of a record be different because it had been played, produced, arranged and the songs written by one man alone ? Success is not created by this addition. Frank Sinatra did never composed one of his songs and he remains the biggest singer in history. J-Yes, after Elvis. Q- Elvis did not compose either. According to me, Prince makes it an ego affair. He wants to play, compose. sing and produce because of his self vanity. J- But he proves, for the best, that he is able to do it. In fact, it's you who add this pinch of unexpected in Michael's music, which is natural in Prince. Q- Yes, that's right, We are two working together, that's why we sell twice more records than Prince ! Before, in the interview, he says that he was introduced to Prince during the Off the wall recording and that P was very young and that he met his dad during the 50's, when he was a jazz musician in Minneapolis (The father, not Q). He also talks about the infamous meeting of the two stars and says it seems to be less difficult to gather all the We are the world stars than these two... I'm exhausted by my poor transation, gonna go to rest now ! I don't want to turn this tread into a MJ-Prince one, I'm talking here about Quincy and only Quincy. "open your heart, open your mind
