Elevator's "Traitor" Eye have always read, even in Per Nielsen's books, that Prince was credited playin' guitar on the song "Traitor" by Elevator in 1985. Eye downloaded it on Audiogal a few months ago, but as far as eye can hear, there is NO guitar on the song (which, by the way is a GREAT electro-pop ballad). Any1 knows what it's all about ?

Wow, this got a five star rating and no one replied. Huh. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Well, can u hear ANY guitar on the track ? & if u do, when & how, cuz eye don't ? Or maybe eye got another song called Traitor on Audiogal, wrongly credited 2 Elevator. Is ur version of Traitor a midtempo electro-pop/new-wave song with a woman on lead vocal ? Or maybe again there r 2 versions, 1 with guitar & 1 without it ? What about ur 12', does it have 1 or 2 versions ? & last question, is there another song on it, & do u (or any1) know if Elevator has released an album or anythin' else ? Because eye really love dis song & eye would b happy 2 listen 2 anything else by dis band (admitting the Traitor eye have IS from Elevator, of course). Thanx 4 answering, eye really would like 2 solve dis mystery.

Dis 1 was just posted while eye was writing the previous answer. So, just 2 add 2 the confusion : r there 2 songs called Traitor or what ? Because how could some1 credit guitar (however by P or not) on a song when there is not : dat's pure nonsense !!! What does Per Nilsen say about it in Turn it up version 2.0, eye'm sure a lot of u have the book & can tell. The more info we get on dis matter, the bigger the confusion, the more eye want 2 solve the mystery... Thanx 4 any1 who can help us on dis 1...

The quote in TURN IT UP 2.0 regarding Elevator's 'Traitor' is: "Prince supposedly plays guitar on this". . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. I don't believe Prince is on this track, but in it's defense, the only way I would have any idea Kate Bush is on My Computer is from reading the credits - I've never been able to make out her voice no matter how hard I listen...

I'm very sorry for not answering earlier, but I was on holiday when you asked me this and just found out today cuz somebody posted a new response to this thread. Anyway I can't help too much. I only have it on vinyl, and my record player doesn't work at the moment (well actually for quite some time already, to be honest) so I can't listen to it again. I think I only listened to this record once (many years ago) and from what I remember I couldn't hear any guitar either. If there is some it's not very impressive, that's for sure. I must admit that I have no idea what the song sounded like and if the lead vocals are by a male or female singer. On the cover there is a photo of the 2 people that are traitor, they are Elaine Gray and Adonis Williams. There are 2 versions of the song on this 12"(extended and instrumental), and no other song. I have no idea if they ever did an album. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be!
