Man, do you know how much music Prince has recorded?

Why the hell should he just release all his material?

There's a reason they call it unreleased and it's probably unreleased for a reason!

If he did start putting out Vault material, I could already see people bitching.

"Prince is putting out too much music!"

"Doesn't he know he has fans that can't afford to pay for all this music?"

"Trent Reznor lets his fans come in his house and take Nick-Nacks out of his living room! Prince should do that!"

And Blah, Blah, Blah!!!

Child, Please!!!

I agree to a certain point. But look at Crystal Ball... That had some incedible material on it! Hide the Bone, The Ride, She Gave her Angels, etc etc and It was vaulted music. Yea im positive some of it is crap, but i am also positive some of it is amazing!
Tell me one other artist in the past 100 years (or ever) that has died and was still releasing full albums of new music, year after year after year. This very well could be the plan.
The rumor is there's around 3,000 songs in the vault. But even if its less..say 1,500. The average album is 10 songs. Prince could die right now and have a new album released every year until the year 2159!
If you look at it that way... the man is going to accomplish something NOONE has or ever will!

I once read an article in Goldmine magazone in regards to Zappa (sorry I do not remember the first name) and this performer had passed away and now there is this major restoration going on on his unreleased tracks. It was an interesting article and being a long listener of Prince, I naturally applied it to his recordings in the Vault. I did not know this Zappa guy had so many tracks and there was never a number supplied. This is in no disrespect.
I do not believe when P's times comes, we will see the doors wide open and the vault unloaded. I can only imagine what stipulations will go with the Vault to the individual who assumes Paisley Park.
I have always been curious as to what will transpire but I have some of the unreleased tracks and I know what I have is no where close, but some tracks are on point and others, I would not have been impressed with.
Bottom line, it is his work and his right to release or not release. Time will tell and hopefully, he will let go some tracks for us to enjoy.

Fans have never said this, and never would. 1995-1996 was a very prolific year of releases, as was 1985-1988 (with all the proteges, etc), and no one complained back then.

for the first time i agree with u ERNIE, but just this once biggrin ![i]douchebag!

How am I blind? I'm sorry calling you a douchebag was immature to say, but I will put it this way.
"An ardent devotee; an enthusiast" According to thefreedictionary.com that is the definition of a fan. Now how is calling Prince a brat on a Prince fan site being enthusiastic about him? Do you see what I'm saying?

No, I don't know what you're saying because you've got your head so far up Prince's chocolate box that you can't see him as a human being. I'm not on Prince.org to ass kiss ANYONE, even Prince. I'm calling it like it T-I-is.

The question is "Why does Prince keep it all to himself?" in reference to the music in the vault. It's his music and he'll do what he wants with it. He IS a brat. Calling him a brat doesn't make me NOT a Prince fan. It makes me a realist. And that, good citizen, is the reality of the situation. Prince is a brat.

No. You're calling it like you THINK it is. Don't try to pass your subjective opinion as an objective truth. Makes you look way too much up your own ass... cool

@ the original poster:
And of course Prince can do whatever he wants with his music as any artist can.
If you were an artist yourself you would understand that not everything is for public consuming.

Of course I see him as a human being, but still it's not constructive criticism to call Prince a brat. It would be better to say that you wish he would open up his vault or something along those lines instead of just flat-out insulting Prince on a Prince FAN community site.

Just like fans are free to wish for more vaulted stuff to be released. If Prince wants to ignore his fans' wishes then fine but I think it would excite his fans.

that someone answered your question biggrin

It's all about Prince's reputation / legacy (is that the right word?), after Prince has died.

Who knows how many Prince fans will be around at that future moment when the vaults will open.. in around 2032?

I'm the someone that told him that. I wish he would have kept it to himself. .
I told him that in confidence. But it figures in his age range(Teenager). "DANCE4ME3121" can't keep anything to himself.

I met a dancer that dance with Prince during the symbol years. She told me why exactly Prince records and films so much. But never releases it. 4 the full story org note me.
eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

The time for that material passes and it doesn't fit with the new album.
(Imagine Possessed sandwiched in between Raspberry Beret and America instead of Tamborine). Collaborations have to have the approval of both artists labels for the release to happen. He did work with Lenny Kravitz that will probably never see the light of day for that reason.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Absolutely, but I place Prince in the same category as: Van Gogh, Picasso and even more...Dali!!! And they didn't give f.ck about what other people thought of them...would be nice if they did though wink
